This is certainly a well-written poem lamenting the end of a love affair. Remember, "parting is such sweet sorrow." It is usually the forbidden things that we crave most and rue on about. In the end, the right way is the best way.

Raffaelina, this is a lovely review. Understanding and kind. Thank you.

This romance poem, A Letter, presented in AABB stanzas, seems to tell the story of a fling that found two hearts ready to join but already given to others. Classic.

Bill, Thank you. And...Bingo! That's exactly what this poem was about.

This is a beautiful but tragic little poem about a love that is forbidden perhaps by society. Love is a precious thing and when it ends it leaves a gaping hole in the heart.

Beth, thank you. Yes, you are right. This happened a long time ago, and I got long over it. Still, sometimes...

"A Letter"
Is a I Am Not Perfect Contest Entry.
Rich in Theme and Imagery.
...
It read well and flowed well with no Grammar Issues.
..
The Adjective and Objective Contents were both Excellent and Exceptional while Descriptive Measures aligned Perfectly.
Thanks and good luck with I.

I enjoyed reading this poem. The tempo read well, and the rhymes were smooth. You may have forgotten the second quotation marks. Thank you for sharing this. I wish you luck with your poems.
Happy writing,
Larry

I think of that tragic story of Arthur and Guinevere when I read your poem. A fate not to be taken lightly.
Your poem brings out a lot of emotion and thoughts. Great writing.

There is much sadness here about a love affair that ends with the writing of a letter, it is hard to praise the affair whilst it lasted when the ending is unhappy, I enjoyed the concept of this poem and the end rhymes, although the meter is spasmodic in places, love Dolly x

Dolly, thanks again. Yes, I know about the bad rhyming. It is my very weak point. In this contest it was (I thought) of less importance. More the context. So I am glad you liked it.

This poem has the tone of one composed around Shakespearean's time. You have used good examples of allusion also. I prefer to read poetry aloud. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this with drama due such an excellent composition. I am voting for this one.

Liz, you are a dear! Thank you so much. If Mr. Shakespeare was still alive, I would be a fan of him. Lol. But you are right too, it is a bit his romantic style.
Comment from Cindy Decker
I like the wording and imagery. A beautiful celebration of love, and the ending is bittersweet. A nice forbidden love poem. Good luck in the contest.

This is such a heart-breaking read. It's a beautifully penned love story that I kept hoping would have a happy ending. You chose unusual but fitting artwork. Good luck in the contest.
