This is a very good free verse poem. I can follow it easily even though the thoughts and observations vary, it becomes one, as you end it with the last few stanzas and lines. My favorite line is, "noises that would have embarrassed me decades ago." I can relate to that. I shared many years with a mate who gave me the kind of feelings you describe so well. You are very fortunate to have this close relationship. Cherish it - I say that, when I'm sure, you already do. This is romantic and playful and I enjoyed reading it.

No shame, no embarrassment, no angry retorts, familiar events long enjoyed even in our dotage, that set the tone for the day and tighten our "Bonds"! Right on? You bet! Don't change a thing for that's what Love - not lust - True Love I hasten to add - is all about! An unusual format - random but ideally suited for the occasion. Thank you so very much! I deeply appreciate your beautiful review and the six shining stars. I must admit, you made me smile... yes, hiding under the covers can definitely lead to being found. It reminds me of the skimpy camo nightie I gave my sister at her bridal shower -- it led to some hilarious banter (transcribed, of course).
An old love like ours is surely a true love!

Nightie? My husband disapproves of those. He doesn't like pyjamas, either. Hence this old bird sleeps featherless and keeps a dressing gown by the bed for necessary bathroom or dog-settling or early-morning courier-arriving trips.
