OMG, Judy, who knew you could rap?? This is absolutely amazing. I love your rhymes, and that you cover everything from types of poetry to subjects about which to write to why you write at all. I can really see this
as a rap song set to music (or to rhythm), and I can definitely see it bringing everyone onto the dance floor. Your word and rhyme choices are perfection!

Who knew someone living in Tanzania and rural Vermont would be up on the latest pop culture, not just rap music but "Jerry Maguire" and "Mik drop?" Can someone please tell me how and why dropping the mike got started? I hear that used all the time, but all it says to me is, "Congratulations - but I'm such a klutz that I dropped my microphone." Anyway, I really thought you did a great job and, while The 13th Poet's rap was good, I truly thought yours was much better.

I'm hip. hah..actually the first mic drop was Judy Garland on the Ed Sullivan show in '65. My favorite one is Obama. sigh.. heading down to the fla. keys on Monday so that that might change my point of view. The guy that cleared my forest last summer might swing by while I'm there. A country boy in Key West, yehaw. Cheers, have a poetic weekend, j

Well yippee ki-yay to you and the guy who cleared your forest. Have a great trip!

Without a doubt in my head, this poem should be the winner of this contest.
Why?
Because it gives an elaborate answer to the prompt, perfectly written and
last but not least, it is the only RAP I have seen so far.
A fantastic poem, congratulations!

Thanks for the encouraging review Jeffrey. Rap is not my favorite, but I can appreciate the way the rappers play with rhymes and near~rhymes in such a rapid~fire, rollicking style. Have a lyrical day, cheers.

Cheers, rap is not my favorite, but I can appreciate the artists and their rollicking and clever rhymes. One key word sparks dozens of rhymes and near rhymes in rapid~fire. Have a lyrical day. mic drop*

A very well-written rap about the many formats that inspire you to write. Each one us different and sometimes the rules come in the way of the rhyme or the flow of the poem but we keep trying to get it right.

Thanks for the encouraging review Aaqib. It was fun to write. I found a video of Emeinem teaching someone to write rap, so funny. They came up with one word and raid~fire, emineim whips out about 30 rhymes and near rhymes. That's when it got fun, haha. Mic drop *

Haha I have seen that video too! It was a skit and that guy was Jimmy Kimmel the talkshow host! Real treat to watch! :-)
