Hi JLR, and so, if there are only 2 plants... then doesn't it make sense for them to take cuttings? To make more plants? That looks like a plant that you need to take cuttings from. I mean, plants die. What happens when there aren't any left?

Not being a horticulturalist, I would speculate that the two plants are not not able to pollinate and that would mean the end of this species of plant

It's a beautiful flower...why are there only two? There must be a way of correcting the situation. I really like this very creative flower entry. Good luck in the contest.

they are rare and indeed scarce it surprises me how they exist at all with the climate changes we have a rose over here two of a kind that were manufactured after a national tragedy.

Wow, I learned something new. It is sad to think that we have, as we've evolved started to kill off animal breeds. Now add to that plant life. What will have left for our children to inherit?

Mia we all live at a moment in time, where we must start taking care of Mother Earth, the alternative is not too pleasant to consider.

How interesting. Can they not be bred? Are there either two females and two males? How sad to ever lose such beautiful flowers. We have about a dozen camellias in our yard and love the beautiful flowers.

They obviously don't exist in China anymore, which is amazing in itself, thanks for sharing. This is a great entry in this 5/7/5 poetry contest, correct syllable count, great topic, good luck, blessings, Roy

Thank you, Roy, I loved the fact that the Middlemist red camellia came complete with seven syllables to set the poem.

That's very thoughtful, yes
