Again, a fine piece of writing. I had no idea about the supermarket situation. That would be disruptive for the older generation. It is great you qualify for government aid. Good post!

That's quite a nasty looking wound on your head. Does it hurt you bad?
Stupid question, I know it does. At least there's one consolation that you have a nurse coming in to re-dress your wound. Also for your caring wife.
I will pray to St.Peregrine to intercede for you and speed up healing. He is the patron saint for cancer and incurable diseases.
Take care,
Sylvia

Thanks Sylvia the nurse came for the first time yesterday. My head is not hurting as much as the graft site they took from on my leg.

Good luck in your fighting for full recovery from cancer. I wish you all the best, and encourage you to keep a good mental attitude, which you seem to be doing very well. It sounds like your wife is very supportive, which is a huge help. Bill

Thanks Bill. Yeah Louise did the re-dressing before as we were fobbed off by the District Nursing service as they were unaware I was covered by "My Aged Care" funding. All about the dollar hehe. Appreciate your great review thanks.

A very well-written story about your health progress and the daily struggles that keep us going. When we are getting older the health issues seem to escalate. Take care, I hope you will be better soon.

You have such a positive attitude, Geoff. It's the only way to deal with the curve balls life throws us. Praying that you get all the help you need to improve your condition.

Yeah well a lot of folks wonder why I qualified for one from the (State)
Government back 12 years ago. I think I might have written about it in my autobiography (The Little Dog That Wouldn't Let Go) For years I was helping Louise out of bed in the morning which strained my left arm. Then I had two bad falls in the bath that hurt my right side badly. Between LOuise's Occupational Therapist that got her bed for her and my Physiotherapist principal the Government agreed to fund the bed for me as well. These days I get it through "My Aged Care" which is Federal Government.

I thought I had problems, but you're ahead of me. If your cancer isn't enough, the cancer adds to your problems. I hope your radiotherapy goes well. That looks like a nasty place on your head. I'm glad you were able to have the nurse come in to re-dress the wound. The liquid drinks don't sound too tempting, but at least you have different flavors to choose from. Maybe you can find some exercises to do in the house while your walking is limited. I admire that you manage an upbeat tone despite the medical problems. Will be thinking of you. judi

Thanks Judi for coming by. The shakes are thick and tasty. 250ml of milk with the powder makes a nice filling drink and I add a little something to it. I did not post about the trouble we had with the first big order and how they only sent a very small part of the order. I should probably add that in. But all good now.I should do more walking around our front and back yards.

You're very welcome. My husband drinks this energy drink, but I don't think it does him much good. I'm glad you're finding your shakes tasty. judi

Oh my, this all seems so complicated, especially at a time when complication is definitely not needed. I am shocked that you are having so much trouble purchasing the items you definitely need to get through this most difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care and know we all care about your health.

I can see from the pictures of the wound and the dressing why your walking routine would be limited. (Mine has been interrupted by additional hip pain but I expect to get back on schedule tomorrow.) I am glad the hospital finally arranged for a nurse to dress it regularly and you have found a Government supported meal-substitute to help with weight loss. I don't know about government programs here, since I have just focussed on being gluten-free for the past ten years. I also did not know about the tussle between Woolworth and Apple. (I did just hear that the 99 Cent Stores have been accused of selling products with toxins in them.) Thanks for keeping me informed and here's to your improved recovery- Joan

Geoff,
Thank you for posting this ramble and catching us all up on you. I have only best wishes and prayers for you. Stay strong and keep putting forth the good fight! So happy to know your government is helpful in such matters and you finally got the nurse to come to your home and proper food for wound healing and blood sugar control! All these things will help speed up the healing process. You will be taking those walks in no time.
Blessings and prayers,
Beth
