Nice piece at 100 words or less! I can imagine it would be crippling to be arrested for no apparent reason. Sitting there with your thoughts-where does this take me, what is life now?

Best wishes with this prompt. Many years ago I worked in a correctional institution, to get an idea of how it gelt to be a lockdown prisoner, I spent four hours in a cell 5 by 10. I thought I was going nuts. I do not know how those so confined survive.

This really grabbed me: "Maybe a Kafkaesque character transformed out of a human form into some animal, shunned and locked away from the world?" Where does one's mind go in such a situation? You really shed some light on this dark situation.

I can't imagine what prisoners incarcerated for a long number of years think about. Maybe they go crazy after a while. Maybe they make up imaginary friends to talk to. Especially if they were put in prison for no apparent reason. Just thinking about that would be enough to drive one off the deep end.

Wow - this is an excellent entry for the 100 word flash fiction contest. Great job coming up with a story that made sense. I wish you luck in te contest.

This is a well-written story about a prisoner. You have told an interesting story within a small word limit. I like your use of the word Kafkaesque. Great job! Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful day.

This was a very well written 100 words or less, which makes the reader feel like they are imprisoned. I enjoyed how you wrote this from the angle of what a prisoner may be thinking and feeling, especially those who were wrongfully imprisoned.

My favourite part of this was the last line "- Love is meaningful only in freedom". This line is the perfect ending, and really brings out the hopelessness a prisoner would feel. Well done! Good luck in the voting xoxo

Gypsymooncat, thank you very much for your praise and five stars. I appreciated that you mentioned what you liked best in this piece. I wrote the last line as a reflection for the reader.

I like how you incorporated the use of Franz Kafka's fictional world as a way to describe something oppressive. I also like that this piece isn't about one individual prisoner, but rather the idea of someone being wrongfully imprisoned.

A very unique response to this prompt to give such reflections... :) You are quite right although your writing is limited to thoughts of a male prisoner... thanx for sharing and good luck! ;)

Thanks again. And you are right about the restrictions because of the word limit. There is so much more I wished to write on this subject!

This work has reached the exceptional level

Many prisoners lose themselvesafte they are incarcerated for a long time.they wish they could be someone else and some place else.getting put in jail for the error of their ways to begin with the rest is history

Wow, country ranch writer! My first 6 stars! I am very much aware that there are many more prisoners feeling the same way; there is also far more that I would like to write here, but was limited in the amount of words allowed in this contest. Thanks for your generous star-giving!
