Ah dear, we've got a visit from Mel here as we speak, although she's very welcome considering the recent - and still current really - bushfire activity we've had in our neck of the woods.
I thought you personified melancholy very well in your very excellent poem; the irony being that she is a melancholy "person" but dresses in bright coloured clothing. I am a joyful person but dress in black hahahahaha...maybe not quite joyful, but...y'know what I mean lol
I sure hope your Mel in Choli lady crosses the finish line first! Good luck my friend xoxoxoxox

Thanx so much for the awesome review, Gypsy -- you always know how to make me smile.... Yeah, I wrote a little 575 for a contest the other day on fire - it sucks to lose everything to flames, especially having to watch it: that bring Mel ANYTIME!! ;( ;( ;( This contest twas an interesting challenge -- and I just can't pass up a challenge, ya know? (wink, wink!) You take care down over there, my joyful friend in black, and enjoy the week ahead! ;) Yvette

Read through this beautifully written poem several times, and I was reminded of the many times "Mel in Choli" came to visit me but God be thanked, she didn't stay for long. The image you chose depicts her well.

Amazing what you did with this. Naming her mel in choli. Love it! Great photo to match your wonderful poem. I am having one of those days today. Stuck in with snow, but can't complain with the mild winter we have had! It is a grey old day and you so very aptly described it in your poem. GREAT JOB!

Excellent ... good use of the poetic techniques and delivers well with a well thought out and impressive creative concept melancholy it speaks in a fluid tongue and deliberates well endorsing the sentiment and appealing the senses. It has a strong character and personifies well with a good all round rhyme scheme and rich word use.

An interesting poem. I'm glad I read your notes because I didn't understand the title at first...then it became clear. It's different with me, rain and gloom seem to lift my spirits. What does that say about me?.lol. Thanks for sharing.

A great poem describing that melancholy feeling we all get sometimes. Half the time we don't even know what brings it on. I love the first stanza. Your image is perfect for your writing. Good luck in the contest!

Mel has a way with everyone. She visits and smiles and turns your world upside down. Yes that witch is always around. This is a good entry for the Personification of an Emotion poem.
