I agree with a lot of your predictions. Essentially a move towards more technology and fewer real/close relationships. More people will opt to not have children-and I can't blame them. And AI will become more predominant for sure. I can say I won't be eating the new meatless food at fast food restaurants.

These are very interesting predictions, many of which I agree with, though some I don't, but I see the rationale behind each point you make. You do a very good job of backing up each prediction with the mention of the current trend on which is expands, making this not just a list of guesses but a well-researched and reasoned essay. Well done, and good luck in the contest.

Hello mystery writer.
I find this to be a remarkably well considered, well thought out piece of writing. You've considered many of the factors we face the next 10 years.

This is very nicely done. You put a lot of thought into it and you moderated your voice to make it factual rather than emotional, so I think you deserve six dollars. You also deserve my vote when it begins.

Soooo... you have officially made my weekend with such an awesome review! Seems that some have taken matters here personally and that I've written them with a 'doomsday slant' - things that I truly never intended, not even in the least. I honestly endeavored to keep it 'facts only' without opinion or emotion, so thank you for that mention, in particular! :-) Take care of you and Ralphie, Z!

This is a bold and fascinating look at one author's expectations for what might happen over the next decade. It covers everything from food to fuel, from medicine to population growth to religious faith.

Though not at all intended as such, it's a little Brave-New-World-ish, but understandably so; we seem to be moving inexorably in that direction. Technology and the internet are moving us not just away from personal contact and brick and mortar, but at faster and faster speeds.

Editorial question:
Part XII. Last word, do you mean predication or prediction?

You've done a great job of covering many bases here, but without being overly dramatic, you've still somehow scared the living daylights out of this 62-year-old -- even though I hardly consider myself a luddite.

Change in our world is no longer additive, but exponential. Any reasonable attempt to predict future directions would lead to that natural conclusion. You've done a great job at outlining many of the specifics, even though none of us really has any way to know the full extent of how things may change and look different within the next decade.

Yes!! Thank you so much for that spelling catch, Mary Kay -- so appreciated!! ;-) And thank you for such a thoughtful and engaging review on this offering -- I truly endeavored to keep it 'facts only' without opinion or emotion, even though it seems some may have read a lot more into it than I actually mean or ever intended... :o) So, thank you!!

You're very welcome. Yes, I think you did manage to remain fairly dispassionate, while writing a reasonable prediction of what we might expect in the coming decade.

Interesting.
"America has a long way to go to where it was a decade ago"- well if you mean (and I don't think you do) that there has been a lot of cleaning up to do from 8 Obama years, the "long way to go" challenge is being met head on and America is proceeding very nicely, thank you, due to one undaunted leader's courage, stamina and hard work.
I don't believe this country will stand by and be taken over by Socialists, although there are a lot of untried and foolish young people who seem enamored by the idea, and will no doubt vote.
I believe and hope with all my incorrigible heart that America HAS COME A LONG WAY, and will continue to prosper.
What those Americans find so distasteful about more jobs, a better economy, a strong leader who puts America first but also helps other countries in need, stands by our allies, but stands strong against our foes, defends our Constitution, our individual liberties, takes no salary and gives to needy causes and organizations. I could go on and on with his positive accomplishments. What, I'd truly like to know, is wrong with that? In what way do we have a long way to go?
Also, I think, to a degree, you're wrong about family values and togetherness but I do think it depends largely on where people live. In large, bustling cities, perhaps there will be less of it, but I believe there will be a "rebirth" of morals and family unity in less populated areas. Look at Kansas today, passing a law re-introducing In God we Trust in schools - and other states are following suit. I think parents will begin taking more responsibility for their children, and hopefully civility and respect and manners will return and be worthy adversaries of those with their minds so involved with high tech "gadgets" that they DON'T KNOW HOW to communicate with those around them.
I'm sorry. I got very carried away. Though some of your predictions probably will occur, to a degree, I have faith in the ground roots common sense of the majority of Americans to keep this country a country free from the clutches of those who would do us harm.
I hope they will vote for term limits, do away with perks, let people choose their healthcare, instill a sense of responsibility in the young and a sense of fair play. Thank you for putting up with me.

As I stated in my author notes, none of this was written as something I hoped for or had faith would or would not happen - it was simply looking forward based on today's prevailing winds/technology/trends. No one can predict something that would apply to the entire country much less the entire world especially when it comes to cultural concentrations. Thank you for your review and your thoughts... even though I do agree with much of what you say here, I tried to keep my personal feelings and desires out of the piece. And, no, I do not consider it 'putting up with you' as I enjoyed your soapbox today, my lady... it is who you are and one of the many reasons I think you are awesome!! ;) Take care over there! ;)

Oh my gosh, bless your heart , blind contest entrant, "Y," for being so understanding. That was quite a piece you wrote. You put a lot of time and energy into it and it shows.
All the techy stuff you predicted getting worse is already doing me in. I can hardly keep up with it all now.
Think I'm ready for a "Jitterbug."
Good luck in the contest , and I do truly mean it.

You're one of the few who opted for an expanded, prose version that I enjoyed very much. And I'd have to agree with almost everything, perhaps everything, just some things I really hope won't happen!

You've done a myriad of changes, in the mechanics of economics, the educational facilities and the social predictions, not only in the area of advancement in educational methods, but also changes in the subject choices, but also in the methods of application. So well done you've done a wonderful job, and your attention to detail is outstanding, well done, good luck, blessings, Roy.
