So many people get caught up in video games they become their reality. When war comes to your shore that is when the truth of the matter is the most apparent and usually much too late. Strong entry for this contest. You painted quite a depicting in 8 syllables.

Too many students (and may young adults!) that 'live' in their games and television have no idea of the real war that many around our world actually live... Thank you for your wonderful review, Brett!

Hi Yvette,
Truer words could not be better said, nor the reality shocker when
war hits on home soil and shores! And indeed, our world does
eerily exist in the 'real' shadows of war!
Alarming truth and dire message that need me heeded more
seriously and realistically than it is! Thanks for sharing dear!
Slowly climbing that 'catch up' ladder to your awesome writes!
Love, best always, Ronni

You are so awesome, Ronni -- just take your time: I'm just glad to see that beautiful face on the listings again. I, too, am behind a bit as I had a big 'proposal for next year' to put to together for school and I have yet to get to my grading for the week! ;) This was is one that has been 'swimming' in the back of my mind for a while as I hear not only my students but adults talking all about 'cool weapons' and 'kill number' and 'attack on the news' and such... so many do not realize the 'reality' of those things that THEY are so very lucky to never know... :) :) Thanx and take care, my lady!! ;) :) Yvette

While veterans of wars could argue this poem's point, no others could. I count 1-6-1 syllable lines as per writing prompt entry requirements. I like the strong "r" consonant sound in the first and last lines. The middle line "r" sound doesn't hit home like the others, but does make the overall message clear. Good choice of visual to go with this poetic work.

This is a great entry for the 161 contest. Your syllable count is correct. That day was absolutely terrifying. I was working in a skyscraper in Pittsburgh that day as Flight 93 was unaccounted for at the time, but was somewhere in our vicinity. That day definitely changed the lives of everyone in America. Others in the world live this way every day. I can't imagine how scary that would be.

Great job and thank you for sharing.

Great 1-6-1 piece. You accomplished the goal for this piece. Started out just right and ended with just the way it should. Good Work.
Thanks for sharing.

Just curious, how else would a 1-6-1 end...? Thanks for the review and have an awesome week!

What I meant was, it was perfect.
The last line landed with a punch in the ggut. (it could be home)

I think this is a good entry for the 1-6-1 Poetry writing prompt.
This short, well rhymed verse is well matched by the photo.
Well done and I wish you luck with the contest.
Sharon

I love the message of this. I'm sure that the reality of it doesn't sink in until it's on our shores as you've so eloquently stated. Thanks for sharing this inspirational and well written work. Well done!

Wow I wish I had a six to award this excellent entry for the challenging 1-6-1 poem contest. I'm speechless at the depth of thought you conveyed in so few syllables. Not just 3 rhyming lines with a certain syllable count. It's interesting that all your rhyming words have different spelling endings. Well done! A winner in my book.
