Checking my ego at the door, I look at the contest results for short verses, especially 5-7-5s, to see how my own poems (would) compare. This is true whether I entered the contest or voted, or not. Normally I just look at the top two winners if the voting is close.
In this contest, I didn't see the second place entry. Your post provided me a gentle glimpse back at childhood when life was much simpler. Your story told that memory.
Congrats on the win.

Love the image you create with both picture and words. I think we could use some good fairies and magic in our world today. Wonderful work, I enjoyed my trip back to my childhood.

Childhood was definitely a time when most all of us were less serious and we had more imagination. I don't think that we should ever lose that child-like innocence and dependence. I think that life in general causes many of us to lose these traits. Thanks for sharing this inspirational and well written work. Well done!

How precious is this? Gorgeous imagery and a sweet breeze of fantasy in this trip back to innocence. Thank you for a break from the usual 5-7-5 monotonous fare. Breathtaking picture. Very well done!

Wow. Thank you, Lynda. Yeah, someone turned me onto this pic and I just had to use it. Before it was cropped, there was a lot more of the woods behind her showing. The monotonous fare? Hahaha. I'm glad you liked this short offering, L. Thank you again.

You've written an excellent 5-7-5 poem for the contest
that many will relate to on fanstory.
For most, childhood was a fantasy time where imagination
could take us to magical places.
Excellent choice of art work.

I remember a time when my belief in fairies was unequivocally real. I looked for evidence of them in my yard and in neighborhood parks. Thanks for this

This 5-7-5, Remember When, has the right set up and reminds us of a time when our future was a universe of imagination and possibilities.

As someone currently posting a novel that is a fairy story for grownups, I have to agree with you. But I have to add also, Time still can be because they still are, if you want them to be.
