Wow, there is a third if a high school chemistry lesson here, or maybe a whole one. The author notes help immensely. Informative post about soot particle.

Hooray for chemistry!! ;) ;) Thanx for stopping in on this one, Crystie -- it's one of those that you know going in won't win cuz it's too nerdy to have wide-spread appeal, but I simply could not resist when the I ran across the word in the 20-letter listing!! ;) :) The ?nerd? was strong with this one.... LOL! ;) Take care! :) Yvette

Thank you for sharing your clever Teacup Dictionary Poem and your notes to help us better understand its relevance. I enjoyed your use of alliteration and the animated presentation as well. Best wishes in the competition- Joan

I don't know about that--it's a pretty brainy contest! Cheers- Joan

A very well-written twenty letter teacup dictionary poem about the science behind a common football ball's shape and the reason for the design.

I just love this contest and you've done a terrific job with a neat and hithertofor not known word by me.

I love the turn into Eighties Football and wish you great luck in the voting booth. :))

Hey Yvette. First of all... the round football is the socialist football... :))))) I have been know to refer to it as such. I prefer the elliptical spheroid (it bounces funny). In the military, I had the opportunity to enter into some of Mr. Fuller's designs.
I have been doing some climate change research lately and what I learned about termites is disturbing. We need to outlaw termites.

I can't help myself, and no one else can either. My wife has tried to help me for 47 years and she officially threw in the towel on Jan 1. Teehee

Hi Yvette. I enjoyed your poem on a chemistry level more than on a football level, which I know nothing about. I do see how it can be imagined as a soccer ball, though. Thanks for the info and the author's note. Marilyn

Wow! You just taught me something above my pay grade! LoL! What an interesting way to teach us about how the soccer ball shape was discovered! I love learning new things, and this definitely fits that bill! Thanks for sharing! xoxo

Haha! Well, I suppose when your I. Q. is 195 and you write a fantastic piece like this, it?s hard for simple man to comprehend that learning new information is a good thing. You can keep my gray matter fired up all you want! :) xoxo

What a highly educational poem! Biochemistry was my downfall during my short sojourn at medical school. I still have nightmares about carbon rings! LOL
Buckminsterfullerene is a bit of a mouthful. No wonder it's generally shortened to buckyballs. A much more digestible name to go with your delightful cup of tea!

I'm so proud of you doing this one. I wanted to but somehow didn't know exactly how to make it work but you did it beautifully and I've always found that molecular shape so cool! Best to you in the contest, Yvette!

LOL! Yeah, there's pretty much no chance of placing in the contest as it's a bit over-the-top nerdy, but I just couldn't resist!! :) As Yoda would say, "The nerd is strong with this one!"... wink, wink. ;) ;) Thanx for sponsoring such a fun contest, Professor! :) Yvette
