You have done a great job explaining this indeed obscure word. The
term "Twitter-verse" is clever and fitting, since in modern times, brand new "universes" of a sort have come into being!

Yvette,

Another good obscure word entry! Your verse is elevated by the new info you shared. You likely know why Arabic numbers have lines, not curves. It was difficult to etch stone tablets with curves. LOL

I read somewhere that each etched number has the number of angles to correspond with that number. Zero has no angles!

Hello mystery writer. I must say I learned something about the old pound sign. In the days of old are telephones when the receptionist had a call she would say "pound one.". You did a nice job with this. Good luck in the contest.

I think this is a good entry for the Obscure Word 7-9-7 contest.
This interesting piece tells of the word octothorpe, now known as hashtag.
Well done and I wish you luck with the contest.

How interesting - your word is the real meaning of "hashtag". Who woulda' guessed. We begin to use a word or symbol and it can become thought of as something else. Not that anyone would say "state your name and put an octothorpe beside it" . Good obscure word choice.

That's very interesting to find outs its origins. I usually just use it as a number sign. I don't use Twitter, so, I wasn't familiar with the terminology. Thanks for sharing this informative and well written work. Well done!

Ciao mystery poet . I gave you your second vote.

I found your entry Informative

You did a great job tackling the limited 7-9-7 format with long word like octothorpe , incarnation and Twitter -verse.

I love the colour scheme too

.... interesting from start to end ..In my opinion a podium win.

Octothorpe is so obscure, it stumped the spellcheck app, so, with the help of your excellent 5-7-5, it should have a pretty good chance in the contest.
(A little luck couldn't hurt.)

Hi Author, you forgot my favorite one!... the number sign! ;) Great job, I've never really known what the real name for the octothorp was, now I do. :)

Things come and go and then they come back again. Lots of times it comes back as something different, such as a different name. While this mark as far back as I can remember it signified a pound number. And now it returns as an hashtag with chat. but it sitll looks like pound to me! LOL
