My feelings exactly. No more peaceful place to be than by the water. I especially like the line, 'in shallow pools I rediscover dreams.' I'd never heard of the Barbara Ann sonnet. Very interesting, and beautifully written.

I'm not familiar with this adaptation of the sonnet, but like it! The subject is wonderful - Peace! We all have different places where we find peace. And sitting by a mountain stream would do it for me as well. Great artwork to go with your well chosen words. Thank you for sharing an uplifting piece.

Hello Mystery Writer!
What a beautifully constructed sonnet, the form of which is new to me.
I also appreciate the topic and setting of your verse = so tranquil and inviting.
One note:
Care free = (carefree)
Thank you for sharing!

Hi diane. Many thanks for sharing my Barbara Ann and your warm praise. I deliberately chose Care free because I wanted to show how the Speaker is free of cares while "carefree" suggests someone who's casual, easy-going.

Works for me!
I hope I did not offend!

You certainly did not offend me. I truly enjoy explaining how/why I choose the words I do.

I do as well!
Take care!

Your poem certainly describes peacefulness. Seems there's something about a brook or a stream that seems to mesmerize people. The sound of the current babbling by watching frogs on a lily pad. It's so easy to get lost in the peacefulness and time flies by. The picture you chose really enhances the words of your poem. Great job!

This is a great entry for the sonnet contest. Your syllable count is correct as well as the rhyming pattern. I particularly liked how you said the same line at the beginning and the end. It gives your theme of peace much more emphasis. Great job and thank you for sharing.

Hello Author, I really loved this Barbara Ann Sonnet. It's very easy to follow. Some Sonnets are difficult and you have to stop for a moment to ponder how the words are working and what things mean, as you go along. I didn't have to do that here, this flowed as easily as a stream. ;) Well done :)

This is a beautiful sonnet, written with both beauty and clarity. I love the line Or watch the leaf boats pass and drift away. I feel the rhyme scheme is correct, and your words flow in a wonderful way. Very nice work - best of luck in the contest!

Having experienced moments about which you have written so admirably, it tugs at my memory. Long ago - how time flies - I would spend hours doing nothing but enjoying the peace and tranquility of a meadow stream (no mountains where I lived - Dorset, UK ), watching the fish sunning themselves. Nostalgia for same added a tear to my eyes for times past. Now regarded as ancient as my family describes me, (90) it is memories such as your words conjure up, that keep me sane! Thank you for a lovely, heart rending read. Rhymer.
