I think the main idea of the poem is "We are alone with our reflections" i like how you emphasis this in the face of the winter that cares this in the image of a tree and comes back as a reflection of the past and a clean gateway for the future. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

A lovey free verse Trisha on where the artwork of this gorgeous, barren tree took you.I like the way you've woven our life cycle with that of the tree. You've let your emotions and thoughts fly free with this one, that's what free verse is for me.
cheers
valda.

This is a time of reflection--of joy, pride, and even regrets. Looking at a tree with its bare branches in winter can awaken thoughts about time and how it flies and--for older people--how short it is.

Yes, there is beauty even in a piece of driftwood we find on the beach. And also the withered rose petals that end up in potpourri baskets. We no longer function like we used to, but if there is still aesthetic beauty left - I'll take it! i am now decorating your life...

What a wonderful idea you came up with, comparing our lives to the life of a tree. It's perfect. I love the lines saying once fruitful contribution to life a barren shell of what it could do. Your words are superb, the rhyming is very good, and the tree with a reflection is the perfect image. Beautiful poem!

This ekphrastic poem is wonderful, in its meaning and lyricism. I like the flow, the meter, and the rhymes very well. My favorite passage is the one where you write, "Reminded how in the final stage we are alone with our reflections". This is poignant and profound. Like the tree who no longer bears fruit, we are most definitely alone, spiritually, if not in reality, to face and learn from our reflections. I like the double meaning of the reflections in the water of the tree, and our time reflecting on how life was and is and could be. This is a positive way of aging, which I find refreshing, what with all the negative references to aging, in most of what is written. Thank you for this gift.
Take care, Jesse

A very well-written free verse poem reflecting back on our lives is done we often do and each nature cycle reminds us of our own life cycle that continues to develop through the years of our existence.
