I have shared some things that we've been doing, but sometimes I haven't known which of my friends have actually been paying attention -- thank you so much! Yes, the work we do together is very important to us. We want to make a difference, in the time we have in this life. And he really does make me laugh, quite a bit. I underestimated this quality at first, but it has proven to be very important in helping us get through life. Finally, thank you for noticing his good looks! I agree with you, completely. He looks better to me, as time goes by.
The contest was in 2019, and a friend so kindly helped me revive this post. But there will be other contests, maybe I can write more. Because I got more reviews, this story gained the "Recognized" status, which it didn't have before. I was new to FanStory when I wrote it, and I only got 10 reviews. Now, that has at least doubled, yay! God bless you, my friend, and your family, too.

Thank you so much for reading my story, and for your very thoughtful and excellent review. I think sometimes we have a preconceived idea of what we think our ideal mate should be like, and we're waiting for the person who will fit into that mold -- when that isn't what God has in mind for us, at all! Of course, naturally there are some basic things that we should look for, such as love, kindness and faith, and if I had focused instead on those qualities, I wouldn't have missed what was obvious -- that Jorge is a treasure. Perhaps we both needed more time to mature enough to weather the storms of life together, especially me -- in a marriage, each person should feel very loved and highly valued by the other, and anything less is a disservice. I needed to grow in my character, and make room for him to be happy. When he wants to do something, I always remember that it's his life, too, and we only pass this way once. We discuss important decisions together.
You're right in saying that sometimes love unfolds quietly! I'm so glad that I didn't miss it completely. What a difference he has made, in my life. May God bless you, also.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for all your help and generosity, Helen! Yes, it's true that the values of friendship, trust, respect and communication need to be elevated in relationships, for marriages to have a better chance at survival. I wish I would have realized the value of our relationship much sooner in life, but possibly, we weren't yet ready to treat one another with the love and respect that were necessary. I would have loved to have had some children, but that is also taken too lightly by many people. Once a child is conceived, then I believe we need to make room in our lives and hearts, but that never happened... so we need to accept that. We are very grateful to have found a very special, mutual love that is rooted in Christ. We feel very blessed. May you both always be blessed, too, and your family!

Yes, it would have been a lot harder for us to be there for our parents, to the extent we were able to, if we were also raising a family -- not to mention that we have issues of our own, and life has mostly not been easy to begin with!
