As always, this chapter is as enjoyable as the others I've read. The characters are well-rounded and believable as real people, which makes these chapters easy reading. Looking forward to the next one!

I used to love reading Westerns and I enjoyed reading this. I like the way you've handled the dialogue. I didn't really try to pick up any edits. I just enjoyed the read.

Cheers
Judy

I am new to this site, so I just jumped into this story. It is very artfully written, and very descriptive. When I read a book or story, if I cannot picture the characters, I lose interest. Not here! I will read what I missed. Great writing!

I am enjoying this reflection back into the past. Grandma sure isn't one to cross, is she? Reminds me of someone I knew...
My grandmother homesteaded alone at 16 years of age in the Black Hills of SDakota and grandpa had some colorful stories of his own.
I look forward to keeping up with yours!

Hello Earl. I enjoyed the dialect and your use of vernacular in the dialogue. Some people don't like that but I think it adds "flavor" to the conversations. There is one like I really liked: "He's killed more men than smallpox." That's a very powerful statement and it works great. Robert

Well, I hope Doo's luck continues facing a brawl with Bear. I like how strong and brave you made the young gals to be. I am impressed with McGraw's vocabulary in Shawnee - good idea to put that conversation in italics.
Spacing issue:
"McGraw

I do believe those frontiersmen would rather fight than eat. It seems they are all out to show everyone how bad they are. LOL Can't wait to see how this fight turns out. Well done Earl. Nancy:)

I enjoy reading your chapters, your characters are well developed and full of life, I'm curious about your new character Bear Roger he sounds like a mean fella.

A great continuing chapter Earl. You added several great touches here and there. The idea of mule meat would be repulsive now but in the time of the story, one ate what one could. It would be considered a feast. Richard's attire was indeed laughable, with a red shirt he would probably be shot shortly and definitely the shine on his boots would be mud covered by the end of the day. I do like the details you provided and the narrative notes.
