Haha - this is so funny and not beyond the realms of possibility. Can you just see this in real life? lol

I picked up a couple of tiny points:

what she considered unnecessary in the pantry, what was a modern fad, what was poorly labelled etc. - comma needed after 'labelled'

Ben had made a nice tossed salad, to be accompanied with some garlic bread. - maybe you could find a word other than 'nice' for the salad - tasty, colourful, delicious?

Julie commented that the flavour was somewhat different to her usual stew. - there is an extra space in 'the flavour'

Best wishes
Judy

I think this is an interesting story for the "A Good Turn Gone Wrong" contest.
Your story is clear and has a nasty turn of events at the end.
Well done and good luck to you with the contest.

Oh no. It was bad enough that she had to tell about grandpa peeing on the lemon tree every morning. His ashes in the beef stew? Oh no is right. I hope that she told everybody. Thanks for sharing this humorous and well written work. Well done!

This is a wonderful story which emphasizes the character of Auntie Hilda, who is somewhat of a Calamity Jane. The plot thickens as well as the gravy when we reach the surprise ending. Well done.

That's a nightmare of a good deed gone wrong! Poor Aunt Hilda. She can't do right, no matter how hard she tries. (How didn't she realize? What were they doing in the k itchen cabinet?) Good luck with the contest.

What a an incredible story. Loved the way you started, yes indeed, families are a mishmash of different members, some liked, some not. But that special gravy, thickened with grandad's ashes, what a story, I've still got my mum's ashes, but they are in a distinctive casket, in the clothes cupboard. A wonderful work, just enjoyed this so much, well done, blessings, Roy

Hi there,

Well, at least Granddad got to have one last meal with the entire family... he'll be a part of them for a little while longer.

Well-written and a great little ending.
All the best
GMG
