Hi, mystery writer, I've got news for you. Most students of Greek mythology aren't permitted to learn the true facts about Medusa, but since you entered this contest with a poem about her, I figure you probably want to know.
The people did avoid looking at her, face to face, and legend says it was because they feared she would turn them into stone. The truth is, we wouldn't face her, even now. Who would want to look at a broad with all those snakes on her head? Not guys, for sure, and you know how squeamish women are about snakes. I shouldn't have told you. If the textbook publishers find out about me, they'll put a price on my head. Keep it to yourself, will you? Thanks, pal!

....I entered because I wanted to have a pic of Medusa in my portfolio.
There is something intriguing about her ...snakes included.
