Although I wasn't much of a kid, this immediately brought me to the movies with my son! One of my favorites to chew before a great flick now I can't because of damaged vocal cords. I can't have the spicy too much anymore MRW and CQ. I see you have acquired another notch in the belt of wins!!! Congratulations Beautiful Teacher for giving me an immersive experience and also following the prompt to the letter! What better time to write an ode to candy, than just before Halloween? My mouth was watering at 9 something in the am Yvette. Also it has been raining non stop for the last two days for us but at least the warmer temps came back for a bit!!! We've had a day or two of reprieve from the cloudy and the rainy (they were at the beginning of last week, though, so I've forgotten what the sun looks like...again!), but it's pouring again today and supposed to do so through tomorrow night....THEN THE HIGHS in the 50's until Tuesday or Wednesday -- ugh!! ;)
Glad you enjoyed the Hot Tamale write on this one, my lady -- it was a fun contest!! ;)

This 5-7-5 suite, A Hymn of Hot Tamales, has the correct framework and challenges the memory to decide whether I liked these candies or merely tolerated them out of desire for sugar.

Your whimsical palatte puckering treat sure keeps the mouth
engaged in a stage 4 fire alarm and no way to put fire out
till the last sting just slooooooooooooooooowwwly dies down.
Thanks for sharing, are you giving these out for 'trick or treat'
on Halloween? Do they still make and sell these fire sticks?

Nah.... we don't even get trick-or-treaters out here in the country!! ;) Just us old retired folks!! So, if I get my hands on any Hot Tamales, they are doomed to be eaten by the lady of the house.... ME!! :) :) But, oh yes!! They certainly still make them: one of our big discount stores has a display right near the check-out lines (just mean, if you ask me!) of these and the Mike-and-Ikes and few of those others from waaay-back-when!! ;) Thanx so much for your review on this one, my lady, and you have a wonderful week! ;) Yvette

Oh, yeah, they're still out there!! Do you know that Wal-Mart put them in a big display near the check-outs....? I am not into spicy, but you certainly made these candies sound "delectable". Each of your stanzas stands alone and is also a part of the whole description. I enjoyed your adding rhymes and alliteration as well. A winner in my estimation- Joan
