DD, this is a stellar write for the Haiku... your choice of winter and the starkness of the wolf in the photo is a perfect combination. Very dramatic and a wonderful response to this prompt.

Excellent original haiku and outstanding word economy as well as phonics with the consonance and alliteration of S and a fine counterpoint of consonant T. Sounds good read aloud. the assonance of E sounds great too. Fine presentation as well. This is a strong entry! Good intensity in tone. Good luck.

This Haiku reflects the natural harshness of Winter in the guise of the "misty breath" most readers will likely be able to relate to. The image you've chosen illustrates it well.
A nice presentation {smiles}.
Wishing you the best of luck with the contest judging committee {smiles}.

Your selected illustration is a great complement to your contest entry short verse. Your wolf-like animal breathes into the winter air. One just feels that intensity.
Good luck in the contest.

This poem is a powerful Haiku. Your words are well chosen and it meets the Haiku form requirements. The picture was an excellent choice to complement it although you might have selected the picture first.

Thank you, Susan. Your review is much appreciated. No, I always write first and search for a picture that hopefully reflects what was in my mind and is then transferred into words. Thank you for your comments. ~DD

A very well-written haiku and the strong forces it holds to bring cold, winds and snow to make us shiver and sit closer to the chimney fire to keep us warm and cozy.
