The Mess On That Dress

This is a poem that starts out simple and gets more convoluted, to make a point, obviously. It took a few moments to remember why a stain on a dress was politically-charged, but then it came back to me. I love this line: All this hocus pocus is diverting political focus. Also, 'impeachment juice' sounds like 'peach juice,' so that made this reader smile. Nice post!

It's a while ago now, but I remember how shocked I was when details came out about Bill Clinton's liaison with Monica Lewinsky and the incriminating evidence on her blue dress.

Interesting how you start talking about dresses and then segway into politics. I would not have thought to go in that direction but they are indeed a mess.

Thanks for your review. The blue dress is all about politics - the stain on Monica Lewinsky's blue dress was the primary evidence in the case against Bill Clinton. Dress rhymes with mess, so I took it from there.

I don't know what's the big shocker, when all politicians are rockers, rocking the boat side to side, while the public gets a nasty ride, couldn't they at least care, about the crap they bring to bear, effects on children are forgotten, so they can do their deeds so rotten.
Your poem does an excellent job depicting their messes. Superb work!

Yes indeed, aren't we all heartily sick of the games they play. Thanks so much for your terrific review rating.

Yes, a most interesting couple of messes you describe in this poem. The rhyme pattern was especially interesting to me, as well as the subject matter. Very thought-provoking for sure, and well put together in my opinion. I wish you much luck in this contest.

Thanks for your review and comments. It seems that history repeats - in variations on a theme of lies and cover-ups... there is always so much one could write about in politics but I think most of us are sick of it.

This was well written and rich in Theme and Imagery.
It read well and Flowed well with no Grammar issues as well.
...
Adjective Content and Objective Contents were both Excellent and Exceptional while Descriptive Measures aligned perfectly.
Thanks,

Thanks for your review and helpful feedback.

I like the way you bring the two impeachments together. I remember the saga of the dress well as the damning evidence of what Clinton described as not happening. It all depends on definitions in the end.
A clever piece of satire.

Thanks for your review, Jim. The evidence was undeniable yet the ducking and diving around the technicality of definition was and will be excruciating to have to put up with. All that bluster - liars and lawyers are good at it.

The mess on the dress made the president confess. LOL There's no shortage of political messes. I imagine we'll see more in the next few months. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for reviewing my poem.
Seems we are destined to lurch from one mess to another when it comes to political issues. I'm glad I live in peaceful NZ.

I gradually figured out you were talking about Clinton. I suspect coverups have always been a part of politics, but we're just more aware of it nowadays. As for Trump, as little as I like him, I'm not sure impeachment is the answer.

Monica Lewinsky's stained blue dress was the key evidence in Bill Clinton's transgressions. I guess the Dems are trying any angle to get rid of Trump.
Thanks for your review.

What a political mess. I really liked this part :"All this hocus pocus is diverting political focus.
Please, someone break the spell from this living Hell.
Policy for you and me is scattergun at best -
we're all being put to the test.
I can hear a whistle blowing;
will this cock still be crowing on Capitol Hill?
Or is his goose cooked, as they go in for the kill?
Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Thanks Debbie. I find the current political situation to be rather preoccupying - and I don't even live in USA.
