I've seen this mountain once. I like your imaginative tale of how it came to be called the Big Rock Candy Mountain. It is much more fun to think of a train accidentally dumping its load that to explain it scientifically to kids. I bet the locals would love your poem. I know I do.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for your review! Maybe I will mail the poem to the resort located close by and see if I get a response.

Thank you for your review. Utah has many pretty sights or sites. But it takes a lot of driving to see them all!

This is delightful. Too bad it's just the hues that make it like candy and not real chocolate. I'd like to see it of course...maybe one day. A great contest entry, best of luck to you.

The mountain made my mouth water lol. I think the picture and poem are great and the mountain looks like a heart attack waiting to happen lol. What a way to go, death by candy lol. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.

Dear Author, you did more than an adequate job of not only describing this place, you have created a wonderful legend of how it came to be. For that alone you earn my vote!

So that's how it happened. I've been there many years ago. It's lovely, I think. Saturday night, my sons and I were going through old photos, and I ran across one of my uncle and me there at that mountain. I enjoyed your poem telling the story of the Big Rock Candy Mountain.

Thank you bunches for your review. It was a fun write to make up a story about an amazing display of colorful minerals that look like something else in the way of candy and spilled chocolate/caramel sauce.

Well, this is an impressive response to the Candy Barrel contest, skillfully creating a story in poem that lends an apocryphal history to an interestingly named mountain!

I'm a fan of both tasty treats and a fan your poem. It intrigued me because I remember the Burl Ives song, but didn't realize it was an actual place. Now I do. And your words are indeed tempting enough to visit and see it in person. Great story... ...ec

Well, from what I understand, the song came first, and the locals thought their mountain was similar enough to be named that afterwards. Thanks for your review!
