A very good poem for the Love's Betrayal contest. Some leave, some stay, and some have a retaliatory affair for themselves. A boost for their own flagging self esteem. Betrayal is the worst of all the sins. Marilyn

Thanx so much for stopping in on this one, Marilyn -- it was a tough write as I usually like to use my writing to 'cheer up and escape the madness of reality'.... gave this a try though. ;) :) Thanx for the review -- take care! ;) Yvette

Wow, you really raged at betrayal in this poem! Your rhythm and rhymes in the quatrains intensified the descriptions and emotions. The artwork you selected symbolized the agitation as well. Best wishes in the contest- Joan

Ouch.....this one hurts....
A truly heartbreaking tragedy of betrayal, all the more grievous with
children involved by a cheating spouse. all innocent and so unpardonable
and unforgiveable! The repeating offense continuing, mounting the anguish and torment of reaching unearable stage, as it inevitably does
and must for this betraayed spouse, for the sake of her children, and
for her own dignity, sanity and endurance.
A tear searing read indeed, for far too often it goes on
and so much pain and suffering, especially for the youngest and
most innocent of all...children. Thanks for sharing....a reality trip
of most tremorous proportions and aftermaths.

Best always, Ronni

A very well-written heartfelt poem about the lover that betray not only his wife but also his children who believe he is the hero in their lives. When he makes his final decision he will break more than just his wife's heart and trust

Wow - take action. Why put up with this? When you have the children to consider. It's heart-breaking when this type behaviour ruins a home. Your poem describes it well.

Whoaaaa.... this one's a heavy-hitter. It'll probably win. It's got the pain factor of little children involved. You have played our emotions to the max in your well-crafted poem. The Mama wolf fights for her family.

Out of sixes, Mystery Writer, but your offering is worthy of six stars and more.
I cannot fathom being in a marriage such as you write, and yet, I know such situations exist far more often than many would care to admit.
Your writing is filled with keen visual and emotive imager, but more importantly, it touches a nerve - a nerve of wanting resolution to the anger, lies, betrayal, and overwhelming sadness.
Kudos...

Best Wishes,
diane

Oh, it's okay -- no sixes necessary: this one was kinda tough to write but not personal in my current life..... been married to the hubby for nearly 30 years and even though there are times I've wanted to bonk him on the head, we've never even been close to here! ;) :) Thanx for the review, Beautiful Lady D -- take care! ;) :) Yvette

Powerful! Beautifully written and heartbreaking! What bothers me the most is that the other woman Shirley must know that there are children depending on that person. How can someone live with themselves knowing that those children's hearts are going to be ripped from their chest. Adults can heal and move on the children never heal from the splitting of a family! This is a superb writing! xoxo

I have never been able to understand what can make someone cheat, especially when they've been together with a spouse long enough to build a family like the one described herein. And what a description of emotions too -- too real! Excellent!!!

Best of luck in the booth.

There can be no greater betrayal. Your poem depicts what many a woman faces and suffers, too often. As the title says "I Can't Do This Anymore" yes enough is enough. You composed a very apt poem that covers so much of the dilemma that people go through. A wonderful job. Well done.
