Ciao, a heartfelt account.
Beaver looks so sweet in the pic.
It's hard when our pets died , they leave such a big void ..luckily, in time we fill that void with happy memories of the good times lived together.
I do believe there is a place for them in heaven and that when I died we will be family again.

When a pet of mine dies , I cut a big lock of hair and place it between their front paws which I cross .
As a token , I take a tuft of fur and a couple of whiskers.. when I bury them in our garden, I wraps them in a soft blanket and put their favorite toy and a flower if possible a rose ( depending on the season)with them.

Wow, this is such an emotional poem, it made me tear up. I am so sorry to hear that Beaver died. Dogs are the best friends that a person can have and it's sad to say goodbye to them. I think that it's very nice that you dedicated this poem to Beaver's memory. I am sure he is running freely in heaven without any pain that he had to suffer in this world.

EIGHTEEN YEARS????!!!!! Oh my stars. What a blessing. I don't think we've ever been blessed to have a pet that long.
Isn't it amazing how attached we humans can get to our four-legged friends? They become such wonderful members of the family! And they can cheer us at some moments when no one whose HUMAN can. *smile*
I am so sorry that you've lost someone who meant so much to you... BUT I am also glad that you had someone like that for so very, very long. Sending you hugs--

It is so sad when they go. I lost one after thirteen years. for him too it was the best thing as he was in pain from a cancerous jaw. I feel sure you will get another, and that is not being disloyal and you will share each others joy as you did before.
