The author's words were descriptive, engaging, interesting and creative.
The reader pondered on the healing of nighttime. The poem flows
and connects well. The artwork is perfect and compliments this poem
well.

Congratulations on your win. It was well deserved. Pretty soon I'm going to snuggle in for the night. I'll take the cats with me and snuggle under that healing shroud.

Hello Yvette. TI wasn't notified about this poem. I wonder why? I'll read it now. Your descriptive narrative of night surrounding her is subtle and your interpretation of her perception are comforting. I'd wish you good luck but you already won. :) Z

This one was a 'blind contest' last week so no notification went out....you just found it after the contest was done so it had my face showing... ;) :) Thanx for the review, sir, and glad you found it comforting....I just LOVE the feel of cool (almost cold), sheets when it's warm out side!! ;) :) Take care, Z! :) :) Yvette

I got it. You're right about the cool sheets. In the winter, I have the bedroom window cracked a little.

This nonet, Blanket of Night, has the proper nine-to-one descending syllable lines and projects the healing balm that night provides from the sometimes cruel day.

Congratulations, Yvette! Your nonet poem shines, it was written so well.
I like the way you personify the fading day,
"fading day surrenders her cloak"
You describe night as "silken velvet" and a "healing shroud".
And sleep as "the soul... wrapping itself in nighttime's healing shroud".
It's a very beautiful poem, almost comfortable, I picture someone getting cozy under warm quilts on a cool September night. Then, in December, we share the bed with a hot water bottle at our feet!
Nicely penned for the contest... no wonder you won!
Cheers
Kimbob

great poetry; and image. I noticed you are a semi-retired math teacher. When I was in college, I exceeded, my rating was great in math. I wish I could succeed in writing just as well.
