Poignant words and wise too as waiting is much better than pestering the one you love as this causes more rejection, I could identify with these words Melissa, love Dolly x

I am glad you liked this one, Dolly. I was on the internet reading Russian poets and came across the poem by Pushkin (he is one of my faves). I kept mulling it over and wanted there to be some kind of ever after, so I added my lines. Thanks so much.

That one line says everything a loved one would love to hear. It is a promise that will carry one through until the next meeting, with such anticipation. Delicately committed.

This poem could have been entered in a number of prompts, with the one-line expressing so much about never ending love, very well written****kahpot

You could have entered this in the one line poem contest? I liked this because I could relate to it. Left my husband, he waited three years for me to return, I never did. Thank you for sharing this little bit of what love means to a partner.

Thank you very much... I wanted to enter this one in the One Line contest, but it turned out to take up two lines on the page and I was unsure what the rules were. I appreciate your review!!

Melissa,
How sweet! When love is the right kind - where it focuses on the other individual - it is so remarkable. Thanks for the reminder. Good luck!

I am glad Pushkin's words inspired you to reflect on the various stages of love. You make the reader wonder what may be on the horizon. Warm regards- Joan

I humbly think that this, speaking of unrequited love, is the one that cuts most deeply and causes the pain to cry out in some of the best poetry and prose. The thing is, of course, that few actually every experience true love...held or lost or possibly imagined. Loren

Oh, a quote from Pushkin! Thanks for sharing that to support your poem of undying love. I think there is more hope that the love might be returned in your poem. Poor Pushkin died in a duel as his wife had another man in love with her. I don't think she loved him as much as he loved her.

Thanks Helen. I did not know that about him. The more I read of his work, the more I like it. I remember you said you read Russian poetry and you were familiar with him. Thanks for sharing that tidbit.

You have made good use of all of your words in this sweet, but realistic,
statement about love. No matter how much two love each other, the passion of love may ebb and flow.

Pushkin must have a hard time making up his mind. He writes that he loved her and probably still does. He's not sure? You must have picked up on that, as your narrator says her love hasn't died or the embers faded. She's just waiting. Waiting may mean you lose that love. Beautifully stated. judi
