I can certainly see why this poem won. It's is very well-written, wise, and appealing. It teaches a lesson about friendship and right to privacy that a young child could grasp.

Cute poem - clever - I like the cabbage head and parts made of carrots - brings visions to mind. Very good for a children's poem - makes me think of Shil Silverstein - he came up with some unusual ones.

thanks - that is a real compliment! My favorite of his is Runny Babbit - made me laugh every time I read it. (grandchild)
Thanks again!

An entertaining poem with some inventive rhyming that could well appeal to your intended audience. The veggie monster is quite a surprise. Despite having a cabbage head, he offers some good advice.

He's trying to keep from shrinking to a brussel sprout! (has to keep his head full of sage advice)
Thank you for reading and commenting.

Hello mystery writer. As you stated in your author's note, this is a silly, spur of the moment:. It is a fun ride and I'm sure children would find it very amusing. The accompanying picture is also very good.

Hello! Awesome poem, I loved it and I am sure my grandies will love to hear me read to them. Only they are so far far away and I'll have to read it to them on Skype. Wishing you the best in the contest.

A very well-written poem about the silly things can fight about and sometimes ruin their friendship forever and all that for nothing more than just a wish that may or may not come true.

"ain't" that the truth.
Thanks, Sandra, for taking the time to read this bit of silliness and for your very nice ( and wise) comments.

I love your silly, spur of the moment poem. In fact, I think that you will win. It's chock full of fun rhymes and alliteration that children will love--starting with the names. Keeping secrets and making wishes is a great topic for children as well. Then you threw in some vegetables for fright effect. You know children, mystery writer. Well done.

well, Miss Debbie (you are one pretty gal - you probably think this is from a guy -- sorry :) )
Thank you very much for your great review. Yep, have been writing children's stories for many years, and though some kids' mags and anthologies have taken my stories, ( for which I am very grateful) I have yet to get an offer from a Traditional publisher for a book. Hope springs...
many thanks again!

I see the children's books that celebrities write. They are not clever at all. I wish you luck. If I could illustrate, I would work on a children's book. I think illustration is the key.
-
when you submit to Publishers they tell you not to illustrate unless of course you are really good. They have a stable of illustrators they use. They prefer it that way.
So WRITE! and submit. and submit and submit.

I honestly didn't know that. Looks like the writer should have a say. But it does take the pressure off. Good luck in the contest. I voted for you. Looks like you are doing well.

thank you so much!!!!!

This meets the contest requirement nicely as you deliver a well penned Children's Rhymed Poem. I liked the concept of the moose and the goose and it played out well as the story developed. Good luck in the judging and thank you very much for sharing it.
