'A very dedicated piece that I can really relate to. My best fishing buddy is also gone away. Hoping he will find us a good fishing hole for when we meet up once again.

This is an excellent contest submission. I really like the contests on this site. They are a great exercise to help learn to write the kind of posts people want to read.

This is a very beautiful, moving, well-written poem. The description of
two friends who once shared good times, especially on a creek bank, is
nostalgia at its best.

"This is a well-written poem. I especially liked the final couplet, which used a fitting metaphor. Consider using a picture to supplement this work since there is much artwork available on this site to choose from. Best wishes.

Thank you, Susan, but the contest format specifically states that NO PICTURES OR VISUALS OF ANY KIND can be utilized. It should be written in the same style as the Masterpiece from whose end-words it was formed. I appreciate your time and have a wonderful week ahead!

I like how you remastered this poem to one of friends parted by death who enjoyed fishing and living in and around a tree rimmed lake or along a wooded riverbank. Both talk about aging and going to heaven.
Good luck and keep writing

Wow! I especially like the last line..."for winds of fate will one day net this angler's soul"...Brilliant! I went on a journey reading this. It was a story written in poetry...one I could embrace. Thank you for creating this. I truly enjoyed it.

I love this! While I, myself, am not a fisher person or whatever the politically correct term is, I do appreciate the thoughts and feelings of fisher people. I love that you acknowledged Saint Peter, and the "save my spot" line is priceless! Wishing you well in the contest and in your eventual reunion with your buddy.

Dearest mystery poet, this was so sweet and precious. I have many fishermen and women in my family and know of this special bond that spans the generations. A marvelous entry for the contest,

Oh my Lord, this moved me like you would not believe, you captured my attention when I read the title of your poem. It was hard for me to read this due to the flow of tears my beloved husband was a surf fisherman and started his own fishing club
. I love going with him, not to fish but write poem while there was still God's light.
Thank you for those happy tears so early in the morning.
Have blessed Sunday.

Oh, Cookie -- I didn't mean to make you cry! ;) But I am glad I could give you a good memory for the morning and hopefully a smile has found its way to your face by now, my sweet FS friend over there! ;) :) My dad is a fisherman and has buddies he's fished with forever.... he used to take me fishing the whole time I was growing up... :) Thank you again, Cookie, for the smile your stars and your warm story gave me and may you have a wonderful holiday celebration tomorrow! ;)
