They go nuts for flashlights ..
When we have storms the electricity must be turned off so if it happens at night and we are not in Winter( when I have the fireplace going) the flashlight is used and the cats try to catch the moving ball of light .

Cats are so fun to watch, Mystery Author. In this situation, the cat has a one track mind--catch the light. He would watch for it and try forever if he could. Thanks for the fun poem. Good job with its rules. Best wishes. Jan

You did a fine job on this piece in only 29 words. Cats are so funny - they get so absorbed with silly things like lights. But then again, we have fireworks, as well. Are we so different? lol

Poor cat. One can feel its frustration in failing to catch the moving light. Making a whole story in this many words is difficult... this one sounds as if it might be based on fact.

As I have a pet cat -- or maybe I should say my cat owns a willing human -- I can relate to this. It's very evocative and filled with fun {smiles}. If this was based on my own experience of the feline species, I'd use "chases" in the second sentence rather than "fights", but that's a picky point.
