Dear Mystery Writer,
Scoooch over. I want to be on the same side of the table with YOU.
No way am I eating anything that looks like THAT. Nope, no how, nada.
Thanks for a fun read. Good luck!

This is funny and I agree that octopus would never be my food choice.
Do like your rhyme scheme and your last two lines. You selected a good image to accompany your entry.
Normally, I do not review long verses (I favor to write and review 5-7-5s), but your title attracted me. Had it been a contest with your name shown, I would have just sent a message via FS to you about the following. As such, you earned five stars for your entry.
The correct spelling is à la carte or a la carte. Without the 'e' it makes sense too!

This is a very well-written, delightful piece. I'm with you; I'd have to be starving to death to eat what's in that picture. You have come up with some very creative rhyming!

thank you! It was a toss-up between the big "O" and squid, neither of which will I try.
I appreciate your kind words.!

I can see easily how octopus can come across as stuff of nightmares. I've had it and can live without it myself. Like chewing on rubber with little suckers...and I survived. Great job on the humor and perfect artwork. Well done... uh, the poem , not the octopus.

But ... octopus is yummy! Haha. You've explained your aversion well and I'm sure we all have foods that we just don't want to try, not under any circumstances. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks, Judy,
It's amazing how many people like octopus - at least amazing to me.
I bet you don't have a food you wouldn't try!

I haven't eaten tripe yet although I've cooked it for my Mum. Somehow I just don't fancy it.
-
I've heard of tripe but will have to look it up. Sounds kind of awful like squid. That makes 3 things I won't try, :)
-
It's the lining of a cow's stomach. I do like sheep's brains. lol
-
oh, Gawd!

We need some emojis here. A little 'devilish' one. haha

A very well-written poem about the dish many people like to order but I agree with you, it is definitely not on my list of favorite dishes, and will gladly skip it on the menu.

Thanks, Samdra, however it'a amazing the number of people I've heard from who do like it. Amazing to me, anyway. Thanks for reading and for your kind words.

I think I've had mini ones on pizza, but not the big ones. How about squid though? Makes your teeth bounce. This is a lively reminder if how a lot of us feel about peculiar foodstuffs.

The pictures I saw on Google of dishes with this limp, grey thing draped over whatever was under it was actually worse looking than octopus. If possible. Thanks for reading and commenting.

This is a fun write about a dislike for octopus and of course I have eaten it several times as it is a delicacy in Spain and they love it. It all depends on how it is cooked and a well cooked Octopus is a joy to eat, he he he, love Dolly x

Well, Ms D, You are a brave soul. Do you like squid, too? It was an alternate choice for my poem.
Thanks for reading!

Bravo on explaining what I couldn't express in Spanish (or English, either) while living in Puerto Rico as a missionary, and someone served octopus, in pieces, for dinner. Could not even stand looking at it. Would not eat it. Canned octopus is only 5% or 10% better, by the way. Clever format with rhymes. I think I would just capitalize "oh" to "Oh" in the last line, and that's it. Good luck in contest! It already impressed me!

This is a nice creation for the Not Funny But Funny contest. I actually do enjoy octopus, and haven't had it in a while - now I'm hungry for it. lol Nice job on this poem - good luck in the contest!

thank you. I think it is definitely an acquired taste which I'm too chicken to acquire. :)
