A very well-written seventy-five word flash fiction about writing and the unknown forces that inspire and give us the spark to write and let the little light never stop burning.

Life's road has so many twists and turns but it's nice to know that a true passion can still be found down the road again. Thanks for the kind review.

-A very nice image.
-Notes are appreciated.
-The topic is an
important one.
-You use good examples
of how forks in the road
can change what we do,
and our heart leads us
in different directions, too.
-But "the light still burns."
-A good entry; good luck
in the contest, Begin Again.

God does not promise us an easy life, but he does promise us during difficult times he'll be there to help us through these difficult times. I enjoyed reading this contest entry and wish you the best of luck.

Thanks Barbara...I believe God must be carrying me most of the time because I seldom feel the strength to go on, but I do know that Mike would want me to...he loved when I wrote and I will honor him by doing it again.

Your story reminds me of the poem by Robert Frost "The road less Taken." Your story engages the readers imagination as all good stories should attempt to do. Well written.

I like this write that gently commands us to not give up our dreams when we encounter detours. It is a lovely choice to use in this short write. The philosophical meaning resonates with all of those who dream to do other things.

Life's road took me far away from my dreams and I don't regret a moment of the time, but I do hope to honor my husband by writing again. He wanted me to do it but I was so consumed in his care. I truly appreciate your kind words.

BA,

I'm not really sure I follow the whole story - to be honest. (sorry!) It sounds like there are two speakers. Perhaps one has decided to set aside their writing (?) for a time and the other tries to talk them out of it?

The problem is that this doesn't sound like a real conversation. It's trying a bit too hard, imo. Who talks like this? It's more in a philosophical vein, and that takes away from the story line. When you only have 75 words to work with Every single one must do double and triple duty for you. Not distract and confuse the reader. Make sense?

Good luck!

Hello...sorry to have confused you...Guess it was more like my thoughts talking to myself. I won short story writer in two years but then I had to leave and become full time care taker for my parents as well as my husband. I missed writing but it just wasn't in the cards. Last year I lost both my parents and more recently, my husband. Now with too much time on my hands, I am just beginning to write again. It's difficult when the mind is filled with too many conflicting thoughts at one time. Thanks for trying to understand my confusion.

Absolutely. And I'm soooo sorry for the trials you've endured and for your losses. Bless you!

That's true. My life certainly didn't go like I thought it would when I was young. More than once I had to start again. It's tough, but it can be done. Good luck in the contest.
