This 5-7-5, Mondrian Patterns, has the right set up and captures the famous painter's general thrust with both this image and the allusion to the seasonal colors of autumn. Nice.

thanks for your support for this verse

apparently FS voters did not give me enough 'thumbs up' for a contest placement

This looks like the magic carpet images I sometimes use by repeating and reversing elements of photos. Great mental image-- the colour blocks came to mind right away.

The image IMHO was outstanding. Digital artists could have a field day changing the contrast of colors for the same. Unfortunately, Mondrian painted in his later life with only primary colors and right-angled geometric shapes. But my selected image was meant only as a quilt and not one of his 'patterned' paintings. LOL

Hello mystery writer. That is a very interesting picture and I found myself staring at it. I was not aware of the painter but I was fascinated by this painting. Good luck in the contest.

You are likely familiar with his primary colored right angle images (-; But Mondrian did portraits and nature scenes too. Google him to see his artwork. He died in NYC in 1944.

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem about the monation patterns that are carefully crafted in orange-red quilts by one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century, Pieter Cornelis Mondriaan, aka Piet Mondrian.

Thank you for endorsing this contest entry. I thought the artwork captured my geometric design idea for Mondrian-like imagery.

You have made excellent use of all of your syllables in this lovely piece that vividly likens the patterns in a field, from an aerial view, to famous artwork.

Such a wonderful offering for this contest -- love it when an author introduces a new concept to investigate!! ;) Thank you so very much for sharing and best of luck at the polls! ;)

I might have used Monet or Manet (but they only had two syllables!) to express my thought. Their paintings had a similar feeling to my illustration, but I liked the concept of Mondrian's patchwork of geometric colors for my quilt.

Beautiful - don't you love the smell of autumn - someone burning leaves - the huge piles of leaves in yard (our kids loved to run and jump into those piles) - course in the city you must be careful where you jump or hide.

    As children, we all like to jump in those fall leaves. Parents sometimes complained then that the leaves had to be re-piled (-;

Thanks for your review and stars. BTW ... my selected image is not meant to duplicate the Mondrian geometric paintings in primary colors. It just was a pattern that looks quilt-like.

The picture you choose is completing the poem beautifully. "Mondrian patterns carefully crafted in fields as orange-red quilts." Good luck with the contest.

Thanks for your good wishes. BTW ... Mondrian had a wide range of painting styles. He is likely most well known for his geometric ones done on primary colors. My selected image was just to reinforce my 'patterns' imagery for a quilt-like farmer's field.

This might be a good attempt at fulfilling the poetic requirements but Mondrian used only right angles in primary colors. Your picture lol nothing like a Mondrian work.

Mostly, you are correct, but an online review will show how his style shifted to the style you cite. Most people are familiar with his primary colors and right angle paintings. I used a bit of poetic license with my idea of a Mondrian quilt. LOL

Thank you. I learned something here . I especially remember the Mondrian dresses in the 60?s.

I just checked again. Mondrian painted self portraits, pastoral scenes, and other portraits. It is likely you could decorate your table with Mondran-like napkins, dishes, or tablecloths.

In 1964 we patterned our high school yearbook in Mondrian. Every page was ? picture perfect.? Back then the only place we could use color was on the front cover

I appreciate it the rich colors in this "quilt". I also like the idea of learning about this great artist. I would guess that this man would fall into the genius category. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for your endorsement for my contest entry. If you are unfamiliar with Mondrian, google him and you will know more about his patterned-looking artwork. Then, it is most likely you will recognize his artwork (-:
