Delightful, Willie, both in message and form.
Now, I must be a bit younger than you as while I can remember all of those stellar actors, I can also remember movies costing .50. Now they cost so much I wait for them to come out on video.
Wonderful decade.
Wonderful memories.

Thank you for sharing!

A lot of people might disagree, but I think the 50s and 60s were the best era. Simpler times and a happier outlook on life in general. I really enjoyed your poem, thanks for sharing.

Willie, This is a very well written poem you have penned for the growing old writing prompt. You used great descriptive and rhyming words. You also used beautiful imagery from the art work you chose. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

I wasn't around in the fifties but your poem sure made me wish I was. I love the rhythm of this. I love the fun synopsis of memories all culminating back to the time of your life. Well written and very enjoyable. Gretchen

nice commentary on simpler times when you were a younger man. Movies that cost ten cents? movies were a few dollars when I was a young man. now they are 15 to 20 dollars per movie. Life was simpler way back when.

What a beautiful picture or image of Debbie Reynolds and her lovely daughter. I like your poem as it proves you watch the movies at home and also at the downtown climax.

I thoroughly enjoyed this cleverly written poem describing days gone by. I don't remember how much we paid for movies, but I remember all the entertainers mentioned. I saw them in the movies or on the TV. Your smooth choice of words brought back many wonderful memories. Best wishes in the contest.

Great work here! I remember them being 1.25 and a glad bottle of coke was .25 and gas was a dollar a gallon. You probably got me by a few years.

One very minor fine tune would be the word 'laugh'.
I was reading along, engaged in your words and came to that and it was capitalized, making me thinking "Why?" Just a minor flow thing.

Regardless, great piece of work. You Sir, are very good!

Your poem is a lovely recollection of your youth. Movies definitely cost more than a dime when I was a teenager though I could still walk to the corner store and buy penny candy. I'm not sure you can do that anymore. Thanks for sharing your trip down memory lane.

Your words take the reader back to another place and time. I remember when movies were fifty cents back in the sixties. And you got your money's worth for a dime with serials and cartoons. Excellent theme for a poem that takes the reader to another time.
