Movies cost more than a dime when I first went to see films like "The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad," circa 1958. In what were early movie experiences for me, the multiple attractions this poem artfully cites were present and made "the movies' into a day-long event. And the house was often packed, full of rival boys trading insults, clusters of friends making jokes at the screen. And of course, there were teen couples in the back looking for a little make-out privacy where they could begin the adventure that would fill their lives for a decade or so. This poem is exceptionally well-written and metered, and it gives a stream of welcome pokes to memory and feeling.

Very nice nostalgic poem celebrating your youth (and mine). I've heard so many our age look back fondly on that time in our lives. I hope today's youth can say the same, but I don't know. Today seems fraught with so much angst for young people with influences such as social media, graphic violence (unlike the good, clean violence of our times ð???), and all the woke nonsense like transgenderism that makes them question themselves so much, that I'm not sure they will have the same fond memories that we have.
This was a well-written, rhyming poem, though the meter could have been more consistent to really make it shine. All-in-all, a great job.

You've got me in age by maybe five or so years, so I remember movies costing a dime. My family were never "movie goers", so my experience is limited.
I started going to the movies more frequently late 60's early 70's.
Your poem has a nice cadence to it which to me makes for an enjoyable read.

This poem will certainly put you amongst the aged. I remember them as well but probably not with the same clarity. Hopefully you`re still taking your girlfriend to the movies. Good fit with the writing prompt.

I remember much of what you recall here, but I don't remember paying a dime for the movies.
This is a wonderful look back at the not to distant past. Personally, I'm quite happy here in the present.

Your piece is a nice walk down memory lane. Though I don't really remember the dime movies, I do remember the quarter ones.
I noticed all the proper names mentioned were men. Except maybe Captain Marvel. Did you see in the movie a couple years back they had a woman as Captain Marvel? There were some noteworthy women back then also. Two comedians were Ball and Burnett.
