I think the voice sounds very genuine in this poem. The short "u" sound in "sum" and "wus" is particularly emphasized. It suggests the cowboy also had imperfect spelling due to limited education. We are all pretty spoiled in our day, but the cowboy points out the only difference in his days were that "sum days wus tough and sum was tougher." Some days I think we could eliminate gangs if they all had to work as hard as cowboys and ranchers did. Thanks for posting!

I thought your poem had a nice rhythm to it. It really could be turned into a song. The way you wrote the "cowboy lingo" made it still very easy to understand. Well done!
