This story is very engaging. Whether it's fiction or nonfiction, you make it very personal addressing "Dad" in you descriptive line. That adds a lot of power to your words. Your first paragraph makes me think you are outside your dad's office. I was surprised to find you in a restaurant.
I love your photo. It really fills in a lot of holes that the limited words allowance won't let you get into.

That's so sad. Whatever it was that came up could have waited. Goth Girl will grow up, probably regret the tattoos, and move on without him. And that's exactly what he's asked for.

Unfortunately, this is a story similar to those I hear all too often
from my high school students who leave school on Friday all
excited because they are supposed to meet with one or the
other of their parents only to return to school the next week
extremely depressed.
