I like the sunset color scheme of the font changing with each line as the sky changes at night. The words evoke the beauty and awe of a sunset.
Good choice of artwork.
Congrats on placing second in the contest.
Keep writing
Joan

Thanx so much for your review, Joan -- It is always so good to hear from you!! ;) ;) I am waaaay behind on my responses as we had teacher meetings this week -- yes, already!! Beautiful poem, Yvette! The cicadas were so loud at times where I grew up in Kentucky that they drowned out most everything else! Always a hypnotizing sound that graced lazy summer days. =)

I absolutely love that sound...it is my reassuring lullaby! ;) ;) And, so, from Kentucky to Peru, ay? What brought you to make such a big move....and how's life down there?! Sorry, the blonde's brain gets distracted some time... thanx for the review, sir! Take care! ;) ;)

Travel? Well, I've always had a wild hair for picking up and moving to see what's on the other side of the horizon. I've lived in many places around the U.S. and have visited many more (as well as Canada & Mexico). I decided one day I'd like to see South America & picked Peru because I love ancient history and it has the Inca Indian Empire. I only planned on staying a year or two, but loved it so much I decided to stay. Been here 13 years now!

That is so very awesome, Rod!! I cannot imagine anything better that following a dream somewhere and finding it only build more!! ;);) Thanx for the insight and be sure to do a few offerings now and then for those of us who would love to travel, but it's probably not in the cards........ maybe... :) :) Yvette

The best part, Yvette, is that this move gave me the opportunity to write... my real dream! Cost of living is super cheap here so have plenty of time to practice the craft. :)

Oh, Linda, you have made my evening with those stars and your comments!! ;) ;) But you can't talk bad about my cicadas...they are the rhythm of the Southern Summer ... LOL! ;) ;) And you are so right about how loud they get... but, you have to admit, they drown out all the other noises (even the husband's snoring - LOL!)... :) ;) So good to 'hear' your smile this evening, Beautiful Lady!! ;) ;) Take care of you out there and have a great week ahead! ;) ;) Yvette

Sorry blonde but it is not mystic that I read on the screen Yvette. :) It's one of those days or night that life's memories filters through the mind and crave to be heard. :) "when amorous psalms of youth/ resound until breathless dawn" :) Yvette this is a good entry for the Tanka Poetry Contest.

You may just be right on that count, Jose -- this one was penned sitting out on the front porch as the sun sank behind the hill! ;) ;) Thanx for your wonderful comments, sir -- you always just add that little something extra to your reviews that really make them stand out -- thank you for that! ;) Take care over there in the Lone Star State!! :) :) Yvette

I love the poem and the picture you chose with it is beautiful!
The sounds of the little critters (I can't spell the word) in the morning gives a splendor to a brand new day. As they quiet in the evening brings a quiet to reflect in.

Gorgeous tankas abounding today! I love the way this is worded and set out with the varigated (is that spelled wrong?) colouring (that's not). There's a bit more elbow room in a tanka than in a haiku but it still has the brevity to put more thoughts together. Cicadas eh? I had to put the fan on in summer just to drown them out! A million had set up camp under my window.

I have to ask. Is that Guntersville Lake? I love being personally connected to your works. You talk about the weather, it's my weather. Like that.
Anyway, you know that of course I like your tanka. Your turning line is nice. Silence with sundown. That's such a peaceful image.
My favorite part of the poem, however, are the last two lines--particularly amorous psalms of youth. "Psalms" is a gorgeous choice.
Great job with this one.

Naaaaaah... it's just a pic I dragged up in a hurry on an Alabama site (and who knows? it just might be!)...LOL! ;) :) Glad you enjoyed the write though.... I wrote this one sitting out on the front porch the night it was due -- I do better with those sometimes. :) ;) Thanx for dropping in, MQ, and you have a great week (I'll be in teacher stuff Wed/Thurs - ick!)....who knows? Maybe this will be my last set of them...? :) ;) Yvette

Wow! The blonde should feel all mystic-like more often! How beautiful, and the way you displayed it just adds to the mysticness of the poem. Please continue to share!

I loved your poem. Your presentations are always the best and the notes are hilarious. I love it when you refer to yourself as the blonde.
Thanks so much for sharing and good luck in the contest.

I like your mystic side! I have a feeling I've been missing out on all kinds of good stuff from you recently. Life is interfering once again with reviewing regularly. I hope I can get back to some kind of a schedule for it very soon. In the meantime, I'm glad I read this gem. I'm feeling all peaceful-like now.

LOL! So glad you enjoyed this one, Carla -- it was wholly the creation of a big glass of iced tea and the sun going down out on the front porch!! ;) ; ) Don't worry about 'regular'....regular is for when the kiddos are all grown and you're looking around an empty house saying "Okay, now what am I supposed to do now?" LOL! ;) ;) Take care you, and drop in when you can!! :) Yvette
