    heat is all relevant to where you are at the moment

    I am leaving Las Vegas and returning East. Night time temps are over 100

O yes I can relate to, we have the second heat wave in a short time here,
it feels like desert heat...

    I was at bridge tourney in Las Vegas where night time temps easily exceed 100

Well, Mark, we have all of what you wrote--heat many days over 100*, gopher hiding then reappearing then hiding and burrows everywhere. I enjoyed your 575. It reads smoothly with great imagery. Thanks for sharing. Jan

You can't blame them for staying in their burrow, Sand can get hot on a poor little gophers feet. Nice job making a 5-7-5 poem rhyme and make sense.
