I enjoy your poem about the serenity shell. It made a lot of sense to me because I have a couple of things that bring serenity and memories back to me in full force. And I hold them dearly.
I did enjoy the rhyme part. I'm a die hard rhyme and rhythm poet. Good job!

Good job. I really liked your effort and hope you do well in your contest. Everyone has something that soothes them, relaxes them, makes them smile, and glad to see the little shell works for you.

With it's comfort to touch.......its, no contraction.

Thanks for your review and especially for catching my naughty apostrophe that sneaked past my usually eagle eye. I applaud you for being the only one to comment on it. I think correct use of punctuation is important and am pleased to see that it is for you also. Thank you very much.

Another great, well-crafted entry for this "an object" writing prompt. I enjoyed the serenity this piece brought forth as you told your story and what the shell means to you. Best of luck in the voting polls, you definitely have my vote.
God bless
Steve

I enjoyed reading this so much. I used to live across the street from the Caribbean Sea and after each storm, I would rush to the beach and find all kinds of sea shells, sea glass, and driftwood washed up onto the shore. Your poem has brought back such good memories. Best wishes with your wonderful entry! --Spangle

This is such a precious, sentimental poem! Obviously, this little shell holds a special place in your heart! I have a petoskey stone from the shores of Northern Michigan in Lake Michigan which I then polished by hand. It has ancient coral in it which creates various patterns. Whenever I feel stressed, I rub it between my fingers and it always brings my great comfort! Thank you for sharing you little shell! :)

Wow. I have one sixer left, and I am giving it to you, because, I think this nonpredictable poem, is outstanding. I read your notes beforehand and did not know what to expect. But, that made it all the more special, when I read it, and did not know when and where the rhymes would go. I love that you did not pin it down to a formula. It is all the better for it. From the introduction to the ending line, this is marvelously done. It is as if you are speaking to me personally, of an object, and all the meanings it has for you. I love the last stanza the best, with its rhymes of 'proportion" "contortion" and "distortion" as well as the meaning of these words used together. How we magnify and exaggerate, our interpretation, of the source of what an object can, and does mean, to us. The message is clear; when you hold your serenity shell, then all is well. I could talk about more examples, but I think you get the gist. This spoke to me, and I am grateful, that I experienced your poem. Thank you.
Take care, Jesse

It feels good, when I get the gist of a post well enough, that the writer thanks me for understanding. You wrote a very creative piece.

A very well-written poem about the value of a simple object can bring to our lives. There are a few items my two older grandkids love to go to when they visit me. A little sailor man carved fromy wood, a seashell that has the ocean sound within when you hold it to the ears, and my piano.

I found your piece to quite validating. It acknowledges both the human condition and the struggles that is life. I love how you draw that negative emotion and distill it through the simplicity of the nature that surrounds us. It's refreshing and deep, and needful to remember. Reading this piece, I feel like I just took a breath of fresh air. Beautiful. Thank you for a great share!

I love shells. We had good friends who lived just blocks from the ocean when I was a kid. We lived on the desert. I loved going to visit, sometimes renting an apt they owned for a week, and being able to just walk to the ocean. I would collect a ton of shells. This is a lovely poem about the effect one shell has on a life. Seeing so many parallels between it and living. Very well done and I wish you well in the contest.

Thanks for your lovely review. Where I live, there seem to be fewer and fewer shells on the beaches to collect...everyone must have them at their places!

As a Pisces I agree there's a built-in serenity in any solid object that comes from an aquatic world. I say "solid" since I think holding a squid or sting ray would give you a different feeling-,Lobber

Hey Fishy, thanks for reviewing. I don't like touching fish... certainly not interested in handling a sting ray! But shells are OK.
