Well, I just loved this piece. It's clever, funny, and worded well. Gave me a giggle all the way through. I'm a Trumpite, so I don't care what he does as long as he saves my country from the likes of the AOC's. Nobody likes it when the other party gets in and goes against their core philosophy. It flip-flops, first one and then the other. A good write. Marilyn

Thanks, Marilyn. I would argue with you, but there doesn't seem much point given that you say you don't care what he does. I take it you are happy if the President is a racist, misogynistic, criminal and a bully, as long as that nasty AOC doesn't get to present her terrible left wing views? And she should clearly go back to her own country - the Bronx, I believe. They do speak a kind of foreign language there.

Hi Steve. He is just what we need here. He isn't a criminal or a racist. In fact, the Clintons and Obama were accused of the same thing (criminality) but all that was swept under the rug. Biden and many other liberals (racism).

The most important thing is that Americans do not want to become a socialist country, we do not want open borders. We DO want newcomers to apply and come here legally.

AOC and the other strident women get away with a lot because no one dares to call them on their behavior. It proves women can be every bit as vicious as a man. These radical women are as racist as they accuse others of being. Racism does work both ways, you know. The left knows all the buzz words to attempt to intimidate and silence opponents, but it's tiresome and getting old. They pull out the race card whenever it suits them.

But there is no sense debating it. Everyone is entitled to his/her POV and it's all okay. What will be will be.

Just what you need? Your country is in turmoil with a new scandal or example of his bullying bigotry every day almost. You can't, with a straight face, compare him to Obama - not a trace of real scandal before, during or after his Presidency.

As for criminality - there are more than 1000 prosecutors who have already said that he would definitely have been indicted (on the basis of the Mueller Report) if he hadn't been POTUS. Plus he is already guilty of one of the same crimes for which Michael Cohen is in prison. And that's not to mention the years of tax and bank fraud which will be coming to light soon.

As for AOC - better get used to seeing her smiling face around. She is one very smart lady and I wouldn't be surprised to see her in the White House herself in a few years.

Trump is so ignorant he doesn't even know what socialism is, or that a good portion of your government already operates on socialist principles. he has just latched onto the word as a convenient stick to beat the Democrats with. Many countries around the world happily live with governments that are basically socialist. perhaps you could tell me what would be so bad about having free or subsidised health care, free education, social security for the elderly and the unemployed...

I'm afraid that there is a whole lot that we do not have the privilege of knowing of what goes on in politics. And maybe we don't want to know too much anyway. I like the light heartedness of your story/poem.

Hi KIWISTEVEH
I am in awe of you for this brilliant poem. Being a Canadian, I quite possibly didn't quite grasp all the nuances you suggested within the lines, however... I am old enough to remember and understand your reference to Jimmy Hoffa (very clever.) Also, the line "dusky maids and palm trees sway," brought to mind images from the novel, Mutiny on the Bounty. "Were you pushed, or did you jump?" was a wonderful ending as well. I love your style!

Thanks, Susan and a big welcome to FanStory.

This is just one of my styles, as you'll see if you peek into my portfolio. There is plenty of light-hearted rhyming stuff like this, but also many more serious pieces, narrative poems and even kids' stuff. You are most welcome to browse around if you have the time and the inclination.

In the meantime, all the best for yoiur own writing. I am sure I will come across it soon.

Advance warning Steve, I rarely review any long poem or script, but I was aware of your named title and it kept coming up as I was choosing entries to read. I have enough trouble trying to refine my short verse skill set so longer ones prove too difficult for me.

So read I did! POTUS and his cronies deserve to be put away for a long time. Your entry ably spells out the horridness of these crises in our political system.

Trump's latest tweet about sending people back to the country they fled is just too much. If he divorced Melania, I wonder if he would throw her under the bus if, indeed, her original employment in the US was actually illegal.

You surely get my drift. Again, your post was a very good one! I am glad I read it.

Thanks, Mark. I am glad you made an exception for my piece. I did promote the hell out of it, as despite the humour, I think this is a serious time in your country and one that may well be regarded as a major turning point in the direction the US is headed. I agree that Trump is undoubtedly a criminal, should be impeached and should face the real consequences for his actions both in and out of office.

I believe Melania did come in legally, but the hypocrisy of the man is still shocking - his grandparents were immigrants.

    Thanks again.

Dear Steve,

Who paid the fare for sure. Was it Conservatives who spirited him away? Trump supporters to the core? It is odd indeed since he could spill the beans. As far as a conspiracy goes who knows, our government sometimes acts in devious ways whether prodded by the left or right. A humorous write but as you say its core is deadly serious. Well done.

Cheers,

Winslow

Thanks, Winslow. I am mystified by this and no one seems to be even mentioning it. Well worth stirring the pot a little. I have even tried contacting CNN to see if I can get a response, but no luck so far.

I enjoy reading your notes almost as much as your poem. Terrific rhyming and very rhythmic. I admit I grinned all the way through it. It's become a joke what happens to all the characters who get too close to Donald Trump. He goes through people - lawyers, friends, members of the inner circle - like people go through tissue paper. I quit trying to keep track of it. It boggles the mind. I also love watching "Ozarks." It's so 'out there' it's almost a comedy. Good writing, Steve.

Thank you. Haven't seem you around in a while - hope everything is OK.

The Trump drama is almost as bizarre and out there as Ozark, so a few dead bodies washing up wouldn't be out of the question! We already have spies, computer hacking, government shutdowns and love affairs with foreign dictators. I turn on the TV each day just aching for the next instalment.

LOL! It's so totally mad one could get pulled into it and be totally miserable. I haven't seen madness in such a widespread manner since the rise of Nazi Germany and I wasn't there to live it, but from what I've read this follows pretty much the same pattern. Characters have different names but it's all driven by the same kind of ideologies. Trump is a demagogue. He fits the description to a T. Born to it. History keeps repeating itself. Hard to remain sane in the midst of so much madness. Hang in there, Steve. This, too, shall pass. Nothing wrong in my situation. Just busy and not so motivated to participate. Dealing with the Trump issue is enough to throw anything sane person off their feed. Lol!

This is extremely well-written! You have made excellent use of specifics--
possibilities ranging from the believable to the hilarious. Yeah, where
is he? Is he dead? In witness protection? . . . .

Thanks, Janice. It's a real mystery - not just where he is, but why is nobody talking about him.

I can't even begin to guess. I have gone so far as to message CNN several times to put the question to them - no response so far. I sent Chris Cuomo my poem - no reaction!

In my opinion, a startling write in its smooth humor about a serious subject - well written in its easy and smoothly flowing verse - literally, a treat in the in the read regarding this "tongue in cheek" write. Thank you for sharing...

Hi that great history for you. All I know of this stuff. Is what I heard on the BBC and CNN. Nothing more. The names are very familiar, but their movements are absolutely unknown, not because they are unknown but because so much has been said of them..this berg and that berg. It would be better if it had been a burgher instead. It would have been more yummy. I enjoyed your write honestly.
