I like reading a great story in the afternoon and it was the title that got my attention. Then with the fireworks photo, I knew the story would be more than surprising. From the first line I was so curious as to what grandpa's secret would be. So well written, humorous, respectfully sad is this story. A perfect word count contest entry. The secret kept to the end is the winner.

Thanks for your insightful review Darlene. I love the idea of taking the time for an afternoon read. There is an African expression that says when a man dies it is like a library burning down. All the wonderful memories and stories lost forever. I am glad to be your afternoon read, cheers.

Very nicely written. It's truly unfortunate when someone passes away and they take their stories and experiences with them. After they are gone, we spend the rest of our lives wishing we would have asked more questions. I'm glad your story had a happy ending!

Exactly, when I see kids with their grandparents gawking at their phone at some kardashian antic, when they could be swept away in reverent stories that actually connect them to something valuable, it makes me sad for them both. Grandma would love to reminisce about when she was a young girl, wild and free. Thanks for the review, cheers.
