I guess it's what parrots do . . . But I wonder why t dogs aren't acting like dogs? I guess we won't know unless one of them speaks (barks?) up. - Lobber

Always wanted a parrot that talked. We had some birds around for a year or so (one of our lodgers had some) but never heard them speak. How funny to hear them begin barking. My aunt had a myna bird once that sort of talked - was also mean.

I liked your idea about a parrot imitating dogs barking. That definitely could be funny. The problem is that with very short flash fiction, every word counts. Your prose were repetitive. An example of this is the number of times you repeated the word "dogs." A better approach might have been to inject dialogue into your story. An example of this could be: "woof woof," shrieked the parrot.

I love to watch animals do things that are not quite them. I love it when they all join and play together. I think this would have been funnier if you allowed the reader to see it as you did by showing them how the parrot got down and played with the dogs instead of just telling them it did.

Ha, ha. I can relate to this. I once said in a small guest house that owned a parrot. This particular parrot's trick was to imitate the reversal warning beeps whenever a car or lorry stopped outside the window. It confused quite a few pedestrians.

I would like to have been there to see that. I probably would have fallen out of my chair laughing at that. Parrots are such smart birds and can be taught to mimic just about anything. I like this humorous and well written work. Well done!
