Very sorry about your loss of the luscious fruit to a rodent. These guys are very destructive. I raised an orphaned one sometime back and it became very attached to me. It was left free to wander around the house and garden. At the time we had a pedigreed Rhodesian ridgeback and this guy would hitch a ride on his back and it was quite entertaining to
watch their antics.
Your poem followed the contest requirements and it was a pleasure to read.
Thank you!
Best wishes,
Sylvia

I'll eat those berries! I won't have the chipmunk in the house but I don't mind him in the garden. As long as the berry isn't half eaten I'll go for it. Good luck in the contest.

Well, COME ON DOWN!!! I'll make popcorn and watch you and the chipmunk duke it out.

Wonderful review that brought me a big smile first thing this morning! Thank you, Cindy. xo

I have a soft spot for Alvin, chipmunks deserve to eat too you big meanie! LOL Your flow and rhymes were right on time. Good job. Not a rodent fan myself but as long as they stay out of my house I'm good.

Yes, I agree with that philosophy! Stay outside, and we'll have no problems. I'll even give you full reign over the strawberry patch! (One reviewer referred to your buddy Alvin as "a rat with a racing stripe.")

    Loved this review; thanks, 13thpoet.

I have absolutely seem the same things. Chipmunks, field mice and various other rodents sneaking into our garden and making off with the things we worked so hard to grow. Luckily for me and my family we have the grocery store when production is low. Nice little story.

Yes! Ditto that, Josh. I'm all in favor of grocery store produce!

Awe, it's just the cutest thing though. I can't see eating after any animal, although, I could almost eat after this one because of the cuteness factor it has going on. I would definitely be bothered that I had an intruder invading my berries. I enjoyed reading this humorous and well written work. Well done.

One of my other reviewers referred to chipmunks as "rats with a racing stripe." That should help to strip the 'cute' factor away!!

I really liked your review, Jeffrey; thank you for your kind words.

I didn't know they were classed as rodents, they look so cute : ) I guess if you hate em, HATE EM then yea... I guess it could be time to set a few traps and exterminate the problem. If that is allowed of curse : ))

I can simultaneously hate and not need to exterminate. I just won't eat where they've been. That seems like a fair enough compromise, yes?

Thanks for the fun review, Hitcher.

That would be the kindhearted thing to do : )) But if I had rodents that I or my wife hated in our garden...Mmmmm, ha ha

Well, we weren't exactly what one could call 'noble' when it came to a GROUNDHOG (huge, hideous, fat one!!) that took up residence beneath our deck. So I do hear what you're saying.

-The image is a good one,
along with the presentation.
-We live in a wooded area
so there are numerous
creatures and birds.
-I don't necessarily like
all of them, but they
come with the territory!
-Very good imagery in your poem.
-You describe the luscious
strawberries well.
-Good luck in the contest.

Thanks very much, Pam. I appreciate this (as always) thorough review.

We DON'T live in a wooded area; we're in the suburbs. So chipmunks have no border rights here!! (One of my reviewers referred to them as "rodents with racing stripes." Isn't that fabulous?!)

I certainly can relate to your feelings upon discovery of the little creature sharing food with you. The same thing happened to me when I discovered a bear in our vicinity at our cottage, was also eating my raspberries. You fit the experience into a very artful poem. Nicely done.
