So endearing! I love history and especially the times of kings and queens. You express beautifully the weary king who silently holds out for God to arrive to his rescue and his reverent faith that his kingdom will survive! There are no errors that catch my eye! Awesome job! :)

Thank you so much, dear Diana. I am a self taught historian. I write historical pieces from time to time. I love the time of kings and queens, too.
    All my best,

Hello Sally!
Oh my goodness! So creative and filled with fine dialogue coupled with keen imagery. I did not want your offering to end, but I so loved the ending!
If I may point out two nits:
My Sovereign, it (it is) from your cousin, Lord Balmoral. He sends you his greetings;(no need for any semi-colon) along with men, weaponry, and supplies. Expect them within a fortnight. I verify it is his vermillion seal.

Thank you for sharing!
Best Wishes!

Well done, Sally. You could have won the Faith contest with this excellent dialogue. To me that's what it is all about. His majesty knows by faith that his kingdom will survive.
Like I said. This is simply well done. I enjoyed every word.

What a great connection, the sun also rises, "tears may come in the night, but joy cometh in the morning" Psalm 30:5. "At the rising of the sun, till the going down of the same. The Lord's name is to be praised." Oh yes indeed, you've got this one brilliantly right. Well done, blessings, Roy
Typo : It('s) from your cousin...

Just wonderful Miss Sally.
I'm not at all sure when it comes to reviewing prose, but does this exchange need quotation marks?
I rarely write it, so I don't know.
I like especially, his faith shown at the end.
Blessings...

Thank you so much my dear Irish Rain. I loved seeing your name and kind review. For this particular contest, no quotation marks are needed as it is purely dialogue. It makes it neater and cleaner, I guess. I?m so glad you enjoyed this.

Great work on this one. I love the setting and feel that this could actually be developed into a fully story.

Best of luck in the contest

What a beautiful offering that stirs some really deep feelings in the reader, Lady Sal.... we imagine a medieval castle and an aged Kind defending his borders and a faithful servant -- but most of all, that warm feeling in the pit of your stomach that burns at the base of your eyes when you picture the King there, holding onto the window sill, breathing in the air and knowing, just knowing, when that flag rises... ! ;) ;) A great one, ma'am!! ;) ;) Thanx for sharing and best of luck in the contest! ;) ;) Yvette :)

Well done! I got the entire story from their conversation. It was easy to follow who said what. I like the ending. The blind king 'knew' what the colors looked like and could 'see' them flying.

Oh, Sally, I loved this. It's a superb dialogue only entry for the contest, and I loved the ending. Yes, although he couldn't see he felt it through his bones.
One minor thing: My sovereign, it from your cousin, = My sovereign, it's from your cousin,
Warm regards. Ulla xx
