I am the grateful one for your stopping to read and your precious rating! I lost my father when he was 49 and he would be 82 now! The pain from the loss of a parent never subsides xoxo

Very touching, it has more feelings than words. Our experiences are always a channel to pour the best out of us, whether they are happy experiences or not. Thanks for sharing, congratulations!

This poem is rhymic with its flow, it "rings so true" with the many funeral I have attended
and the ones that I have not attended even if I was not.
There in the physical with the gathering crowds at the grave side I always think of the day that they are being burried or cremated your spirt reaches out to them
And these hands that cannot reach him /her
Has now turned into the hands of God,b and they now Reside in the house of the Lord ! Most powerful poem

God Bless You

Thank you sincerely for your wonderful comment! My father committed suicide and had reached a point in his life where the guilt of being an alcoholic and missing the lives of his children began to weigh heavy. No matter how many times he went into rehab, he could not overcome addiction. But as sad as that made my years growing up, love and prayers never ceased for him! He died at age 49 the day before his birthday and I?m sure it was because he could not face a new decade of life! But God is gracious and forgiving, and I rest in the peace that He is in control.

A very well-written ode to a father that means a lot to you over all the years and on father's day it is a wonderful time to remember the good times we spent with our fathers after they are gone.

Again, thank you for reading and commenting! A daughter has a special love for Dad, and he is who she bases all men on after. He was an awesome man just not around too much when I was young :)

This is very beautifully written. It demonstrates a true reverence and love. Sometimes a piece of writing clearly demonstrates emotion and this is one of those works. Very well written. -Robert-

This is indeed a loving tribute to a father. The manner in which the poem flows is very gentle and loving. The acknowledgement of love never spoken and the deepness of feeling ring true, throughout.
Good luck, it is a worthy writing.

Wonderful poem. Touching content. Saying goodbye to a loved one is always difficult and finding the right words is never easy. I was a bit confused by the wording "I've treasured every day allowed, through all the time apart." Still touching and well written.

Dear Poet,
This was a beautiful ode, I liked the rhyme scheme in each of your stanzas and the story you are telling and whether you had a long time with your father or short I can see where many will identify if their fathers have passed. I certainly did. I loved the image you picked and it paired nicely with the wording inside your poem. Cheers, Fonda

Such a lovely and even melodic father that was not around much but that made the most of the time he was... in-between the beautiful lines it seems that the reason he was here but a short time was that he was lost to a tragedy of personal sorts... beautiful veiling so that the reader is left to ponder yet the love of father by child is still evident.. :) ;) Thanx for sharing and best of luck at the polls! ;)

Thank you so much for stopping and reading and your wonderful comment. The word addiction is the underlying cause which interrupts the family unit but love never dies :). I truly appreciate your insightful words :)
