Oh, Lord! If I were Lizzie, that would cure me of every fishing again for the remainder of my life! Hilarious, touching, and adorable. I absolutely love this story. xo

LOL! :) You crack me up, Lady R!! ;) ;) This was a fun one ... couldn't help it as it was loosely (veeeery loosely) based on my little sister! ;) ;) Thanx for dropping in on this one - glad you enjoyed!! :) ;) Yvette

Very good story and especially for Father's Day.
You have the right amount of words because Lizzie-Girl is treated as one word.
Good luck in the contest.

Ciao Mystery Piey. I gave you your 7th vote.
I enjoyed your story .. My grandfather was keen on fishing .. He took me a hand full of times ( he put the bait in the hook) but the only thing I managed to catch was a blowfish.
Your time spent with your daughter fishing gave you that great moment which now has become a great memory !

They is fishermen then they is fish catchers. Lizzie was a fisherman when she became a fish catcher she got smacked with a pair of lips. I bet she enjoys being a fisherman,

Hi Mystery Writer: You did a great job in creating a poem with a surprise. I read the content and was ready to see what came from the water. When I read the line, "A pair of fish lips", I broke up laughing. That's a great job. -Robert-

Oh I was thinking of a boot or maybe a tangled fish line. Fun story and good surprise. One of our sons has been a devoted fisherman. As a teen, he'd lie on the dock at the lake, with his line dangling, almost as if he was calling the fish to come.
I think it's inherited. My oldest brother was such a fisherman, my dad loved to fish off the rocks at our fav. beach (and nearly got swept off at times) - his father fished all the time in the slough on the Columbia.
However, if you're not inclined, it can be boring.
Nice story.

A very sharp, interesting story of an event that reminds me of the days when I was a youngster and went fishing with my dad. Only I never won any fish lips!

Thank you. Could you please include what needs fixing/what is wrong with the piece since the 4-stars by definition means that work is necessary. I am interested in your input. Thank you.

I like humor and this was so cute! I can just picture the whole family sitting on the bank of the river holding fishing poles, baited hooks and little Lizzie's excitement when her bobber went under and she gets her first catch! I also can see poor little Lizzie's face when there were only fish lips!

Your story certainly took me by surprise with that gruesome mental image of a poor fish swimming around minus its lips! Sounds like it put Lizzie off as well if she never caught anything else. Maybe a cold, from hanging around waiting to catch something.

Lizzie being determined when she found the cork disappeared, she yanked up hard and she had the first and only catch of a pair of fish, Dad hugged her; well said, well done. Write to inspire, change -- DR ALCREATOR
