Hello there, my friend. This is such a beautiful heartwarming story. Also very sad that they replaced their time with gifts. This was a wonderful memory that will last forever. Nicely done and good luck! ~Kerry

CIAO POET: Here's hoping that you are in the best of health today. I like your posting here in that every since I was a very young child I loved horses. I like the one that you got for Christmas, along with your first sweet taste of your family life...when you were 5 and 1/2. Question: Who is, Father Christmas.? When I was a kid, I thought I got my gifts from, Santa Clause. I believe you said your parents bought you your gift...but it was delivered by Father Christmas. That's extremely interesting to me. You've told us a heart-warming story here, poet. Thank you for sharing. God bless you, and yours. CIAO, poet. Cordially: rhonnie69.

What a wonderful memory of a special gift.... but how typical of a child to be so curious. They are useless at delayed gratification... Give me the treat NOW! Such a beautifully made rocking horse.

I had been living only a couple of months with my parents .. I was still a bit "scared " of them and I didn't talk much ..
It was my first Christmas with them ..and my first ever Christmas gift ..
I was curious but I didn't want to get in trouble ..
They never knew I took a peek ..
They were sleeping upstairs and I was very quiet..
There were a few Christmas tree lights on so there was a dim light .. Those silver studs twinkled ..
It was as if it was a real horse ..
I don't think my parents knew much about kids and their curiosity( (biggrin)

A wonderful memory of this gift but nothing compensates for their time and it is a pity that you were packed off to boarding school where children learn to grow up very quickly without their parents. A poignant write, love Dolly x

I understand what you mean but sometimes it's not that simple ..
The day I was born I was placed in a home...my mother refused to put me up for adoption but to get me she had to prove she could support me ....with my father ( they never married ) they built their very successful business .. My mother ️came and got me when I was 5.1/2 ..but due to their work ( they were always on the move) they had no choice but to put me in boarding school until I was 21 ..
We were strangers but in their awkward way I know they loved me.
Glad you liked my childhood story.

I?m so sorry to hear your sad story here. Wealthy families in Britain put their children in boarding schools, a bit like abandoning them like orphans, it scars them for life and they pay huge fees to do it. So sorry to hear your story, love Dolly x
