I really like this Rachelle. It sounds like you have good fortune in your family. You knew probably from the beginning that if you didn't do what you said and that it was found out that it wouldn't go well. Well, that Saxmon luck seems to still be going strong, huh! I enjoyed this humorous and well written work. Well done!

Yes, Saxman Luck came in a different form than my then-husband intended --it taught me early on that he was NOT the ideal mate for me!
Thanks for the nice review. xo

Maybe luck was on your side after all. That money might have made things worse. You know what they say about clouds and their linings. Can you imagine if he WAS a wealthy spoiled brat?

Well, that's too bad. Perhaps you can take your Saxman Luck and apply it to finding a husband who truly appreciates and loves you! :-)
Great essay. I enjoyed it.
All the very best! I'd say good luck, but I'm pretty sure you already have it!

Hahah.
Yes, the husband who replaced The Sulker has been absolute perfection. So Saxman Luck is still in full force and effect.
Thanks for the review, Jan. xo

Hello Rachelle
No marriage will stand the test of time if money comes in between and valued more than the relationship. You were better off without him. So did he take all forty-seven million for himself as, after all, it was his birthday gift, right? Good story.
Regards,
Sylvia

this came up twice on my feed, Sylvia.

This is a great piece! I come from an Italian family who did nothing but talk very loud, yet were loving in their particular way. You express what your life was and yet you allow it to happen because it was destined. Really a nice piece of writing

I think it's an interesting tale of expectations and disappointment, and how people deal with them, more than a tale of luck. You brought those elements in with tact, subtlety. In a short space, it gets that message across fine. You feel those tensions in there at the end. estory

Good point, estory; I never thought of it like that.
Very good review. Thank you. xo

What a hoot, Rachelle!
Love your story.
Now, you do not mention the stature of your ex-husband, but he does strike me as a short sulker! :) Of course, my husband stands 6'5" so what do I know?
At any rate, your story held my attention and was humorous to boot! Actually, I do feel a bit sorry for the birthday boy... Not much...but a little.
Thank you for sharing!

It's okay to feel a bit sorry for the birthday boy, Diane. (Btw, you were spot-on with imagining he was a short sulker. We were almost the same height. He was about 5'71/2")
Thanks for the review. You know I always love your feedback. xo

Oh my goodness, Murphy has been a frequent (uninvited) houseguest of mine, so I agree completely. Had you bet the numbers, none of them would have come up, but what would have were numbers one away, in either direction (and sometimes both) from those you played.
This is, as always, a funny and relatable story, enhanced by your wry sense of humor ("the woman wasn't exactly a shrinking violet, so no inconvenience there"). Even the font you use (which I've never thought to mention before) suggests that, while the story may be true, it needs to be read with a grain of salt. Thanks for a well-needed smile.

Anytime, FSBFF. By the way, you were absolutely right about Sophia. She's amazing - and, yes, I became a fan.

Excellent!

Ooh, that's a painful one!
Maybe you shouldn't have told dear hubby what numbers you had chosen!
Winning millions ruins lives, so the two of you are better off in your "poverty" IMO.

Except we're not together anymore, and that alone makes me feel way richer!
