Excellent, Debra. I agree. I walk softly with my kids, too. Let things die down a little before "engaging." Parents are the ones who lose out. Rhyming and illustration are great. Marilyn

Say your prayers and put on your 'mom glasses' that not only give you more patience with these preteen 'monsters' but allows you to laugh (on the inside!! keep it on the inside!!!) and feel real pride at your little bird trying to fluff their wings that aren't quite strong enough to fly..... but they gotta flap 'em to strengthen them - just keep the 'strengthening' focused and respectful! :) ;) LOL! Oh, I don't envy you but I'm smilin' from ear to ear ....been there, mom - make sure you treasure these times (and avoid killing them!). :) ;) Great write! ;) ;) Yvette

Hi Yvette :) Thanks for your empathetic feedback! I appreciate it...
My third child is definitely the most challenging in relation to temper and attitude (and she's only 8!!! I dread to think what she'll be like when puberty kicks in too!)
Best wishes, Debra :) x

She will be your most successful, Debra! :) ;) Hold tight...but not too tight... and let her soar a bit at a time! ;) ;) Yvette

Teenagers (and others) can be difficult to deal with at times. It's hard to keep cool though sometimes. I guess it's all part of growing up. I love the choice of picture.

Ah, such wisdom you have here. It is best to cool down before engaging your daughter. You are right, fighting fire with fire burns down the house. The artwork reminds me of that song by Johnny Cash, "Ring of Fire."
Always my best to you and yours with added prayers,
Sal xo

Out of the frying pan into the log fire or is that out of the deep fat fryer into the furnace? This one sounds like a sizzling recipe for disaster,
that was marinated in hot-headed juices and then flambeed! Did you get suited and booted in riot gear before crossing that bedroom line??? You know what its like after such rows, you suddenly get scary like a poltergeist and weird with unidentified flying objects! Hope you managed to weather the storm and those frayed ends were not garnished with a blowtorch :) Great thematic and dare I say it, tempered write!

LOL! It's such an adventure having a fiery eight year old girl in the house (said no sane mother ever...)
Thanks for your feedback, Dale. I appreciate your humour!
Best wishes as always, Debra :)

Oops! This sounds familiar. Pablo is usually very gentle, but he has his moments like all kids. And I have to admit that I get angry myself sometimes...
I hope writing this poem has been cathartic.
Thanks for sharing. Well written as usual.

The rage of a child is not great to witness, although we were fortunate with the girls not too many tantrums. A beautifully written poem, about the difficulties of raising kids, and the fact each child is different, and no individual Manual in which to raise them. This written in articulate, rhyming verse, well done, blessings, Riy

Regarding your Author's Notes: It's so easier to see that AFTER the fact, though. Daughters have this way of igniting moms in a way sons just don't seem to. But I have to say, she has quite the way with words. She hates you more than she hates school?! That's severe!!! All I can tell you, Debra, is that eventually it gets better. (I promise.) xo

Hi Rachelle - I know... Rebecca doesn't mince her words, and often she tries to shock for dramatic impact. I can cope with her saying she hates me, that's normal right?! I was horrified when she called her sister ugly though... that's just down right nasty and obviously untrue. Thanks for your lovely feedback. Best wishes as always, Debra :) x
