I love this! I, too, learned pretty fast that there is no such thing as 'open door policy'. People in authority can't handle it; it seems to be a blow to their ego, regardless of how diplomatic you are.
Your poem expresses this beautifully. This is an excellent contest entry!!

    Shame on them! :(
The authorities' egos can be a real blow to our morale and spirits, too.
It is a great poem :))

The squeaky wheel gets the?!? I'm trying to think of other literary works that were composed to "vent." Candide by Voltaire is the first to come to mind.

I like this one, but I have one thing to point out and I am not penalizing you for it - it must have been while you were posting it "and" is missing the "n" in "Remain and talk awhile" First stanza, third sentence.

I think before I read your author notes it was the (RA's) Resident Assistant's dorm room door or something that you had walked into. Not to mean you were writing young. I was going to praise this would be young college student that they were writing with great authority and wisdom! LOL

Yes it is hard to point things out when there is something wrong - I recently had the pleasure of doing just that multiple time to one individual who owned a company and instead of understanding - he didn't chew my butt, he fired it! Certain scenarios you learn when you should and should not point out people's or department's mistakes.

What I really liked about your poem was the polar opposite rhyme in stanza one and two (ends, begins/ best/less) You may not have realized you were doing it - but you were. It would have been super cool if you did it in stanza 3 and 4, but it is still a very good poem to me and I think you did a great job conveying this message. Beware of the messages people intend - they are not always truthful. It goes along with the way society has been shaped over the last 25-35 years I think. I give this my VIRTUAL SIX - good luck in your contest. Cheers, Fonda

revealing you for eying and advising me of my bo, bo. It has been corrected, thank you. I enjoyed reading your note. Read my author
notes. They will tell you what position I was in during my butt chewing.

This is fantastic -and valid, though something I'd never thought of before. You displayed it perfectly in the poem, itself, and then made it even clearer in the Author's Notes. I guess you acquired a "life skill" that day. Thanks for passing it on, and best of luck in the contest. xo

Thank You for your review. That was the first and only time I used this policy. I took the problem over my Lt's head, directly to the City Council. I won, or did I?

Sure you did!! It taught you that there are other ways to solve problems; you just have to be clever and creative. xo

You are too cunny, egoistic as you keep your open door policy on pretention and offer everyone for a fair treat and justice, you invite everyone with restrictions; well said, well done. Keep writing -- DR ALCREATOR

I suppose some conduct this policy well. This particular Lt was a horses' behind.
